We all know that Mike apparently came up with the title 'Pet Sounds' (describing his cousin Bri's wacky far out music), but how does this relate to the song 'Pet Sounds'. We know that this had a working title of 'Run James Run' but at what point did it change its name to 'Pet Sounds'?
Was it
a) Before Mike had suggested it, so indeed Mike got his idea from that, or
b) After Mike suggested it should be the album title, Brian liked it and thought he should rename the song that.

I don't know. Does anyone?

Maybe someone should go on the Blueboard and ask Brian? Or the Beach Boys Britain board and ask Bruce?

FWIW, circa 2/23/66, "Run James, Run/Pet Sounds" wasn't listed for inclusion on Pet Sounds, although Brian indicated to Capitol that another instrumental would be added. Sooooooooo...

I dunno. I'd say, if pressed, the track was (re)titled after the album.

But I'm just a hard-workin' historian.  Computer Smash!

Wait...has that truly been confirmed? After all, Carl claimed it was Brian's idea, and Brian still claims is was Carl's.

Brian said in 1966 that Mike came up with the title.

Well, it had to be sometime AFTER March 11, 1966...since that's when the track for what became "Here Today" was cut under the working title of "Pet Sounds".
