Nice to see the short bit about Brian in the studio and mention the group. But I am at a loss as to what Michelle Phillips was getting at when she snickered while talking about Brian's ambition. Maybe I need to see it again, but I felt let down by CNN's presentation. Anybody else?

 Wink

great little segment i thought. it seemed like it was all about The Beatles and the Brits, and I thought for sure the Beach Boys were getting snubbed. especially when they spotlighted the TAMI Show and claimed that the Stones were the headliners and made no mention of the Boys whatsoever. they even showed the TAMI poster where the Beach Boys were clearly listed at the top of the bill.

then they got to Dylan and how rock music began really saying something meaningful and artistic with the power to change the world. enter Brian Wilson.  Smiley

kudos to CNN!

What she said is that Brian Wilson said he wanted to make the best album of all time. She was snickering about the piano in the sandbox. I see nothing to be let down about.

I said I needed to see it again.  I did. Clearer understanding now. Sorry.

I finally caught it last night.  It's cool that they are repeating each episode a number of times.

Considering the episode was titled British Invasion, it's surprising that Dylan or the Beach Boys got the representation they did.  I can understand this as a means of illustrating the effect the B.I. had on US artists, so I was glad we got what we got.

One thing I thought odd was that this installment seemed to end pretty abruptly around 1967.  Surely there was plenty going on with the British groups thru the end of the decade.

I would like to see a full episode devoted to US bands, and their effect on the social scene.
