Heard this many years. I think its a catchy song. He recorded it in the 90's with Adrian Baker. Shame he never released it. It would sound great on his solo cd i think.

I've never heard it. It's obviously dated sounding, but I think rerecorded it could be pretty cool.
To be honest... it's about the same as what Brian was doing at the time. Spirit of Rock & Roll? Yikes!

If you remove the vocals, that sounds like the background music you'd hear on a Burger King or McDonald's employee training video, circa 1989-90.

That song is some real garbage. Adrian Baker's production is just...blah. Uninspired.

Thanks for uploading this. It would be interesting to hear more of Mike`s recordings from this period again.
I have to say though that I think the stuff he did with Adrian Baker is the worst music that Mike has ever recorded. The drum machines and keyboards kill what could have been a catchy enough number. The Mike Love Medley that you uploaded has an air of Smart Girls about it.

Here`s another gem from Mike and Adrian Baker

Again I think the production kills what is a catchy song.

While we're on the subject, can anyone tell me who provided backing vocals on Paradise Found from Mike's solo LP?
http://youtu.be/HOHn1SKMD6Q
Always though this was th best track on that LP and with hindsight would have been fine on any BBs band album from the early 80s.
Is that Jeff-F on falsetto?

Comment
:
When this album was released in 1981 Mike was okay in my book. I listened to it often. Mike's attitude shocked me at the two Circle Star shows I saw that December, but I still continued to think of him as a great showman and singer. I like this album to this day. I don't even think it sounds dated. Most artists used these production methods in the 80's, from Neil Young and Judy Collins to Carole King (picking three off the top of my head who used production methods that did not fit their style). The Beach Boys, to me, sounded great in the 80's using these very same techniques. I think it did fit their style. Although after going through the Survivor Game, I know many voters did not. If Mike was playing these songs live now, he would probably strip a lot of this out. Neil, Judy and Carole have, and made tracks from albums like
Trans (1982), Home Again (1984) and Speeding Time (1983)
beautiful. When I moved my huge vinyl collection across the country in 1998, having to leave about a thousand records behind - this was not one of them.
Dutchie's link to the 90's track, and the others he posted on his channel... Well, the best thing to say is that Mike couldn't decide where to go by then. And of course Brian, Carl and the Beach Boys were pretty much in the same boat. Following popular musical trends that treaded water.
