There's a long time Beach Boy fan out there from Beach Boys Australia who has been lurking for a while and needs to be encouraged to post on this board. Lawry (the original) Professor from Sydney. I'd like to encourage all Lawry's friends to encourage him to post on the board.

I don't know who is that Lawry chap, but I'll nevertheless encourage him to post on the board. We welcome everyone here, tell it so to him.

The one and only true professor, in the finest discipline there is; and he's even got an asteroid named after him. Who can top that?

What about the guy on here already who calls himself "the Professor"? He might not be too happy about this Its all a matter of 'first use' our Professor has the advantage having used his nom de plume in print in the BBA publications including a 1986 interview with Brian at the Beach Boys 25th Anniversary concert at Waikiki. Maybe its time for the two 'Professors' to do a 'live and let live' agreement and get the legal litigation of the Beach boys world out of the way before any thread gets underway .... now all we have to d0 is get Lawry to log on and start posting .... come on Lawry .... you can do it!

I have known "The Professor" from BBA a long time, and am honoured to have him as a friend. I certainly welcome him here. He will provide a zest on this board which seems to have been sorely lacking for some time. Come Larry, start posting - we need you here!
Cheers Dwight

Larry, whomever you are, if you come here pick a name not in use, as we already have a damn fine professor; and he's not all turned down under like the bedsheets

Hey Lawrence "the Professor", although I'm a very occasional poster here myself I'd love to see your passion and insight on Smiley Smile.
Your old friend, Garry.

Lawrence Lavery - a name from the past, pre-internet, when we kept in touch with snailmail and phone calls. Or so my grandfather told me.

Lawrence "The Professor" Lavery is a name that goes wayyy back in Beach Boys fandom. I used to love reading his articles in Beach Boys Australia, back in the pre-internet days.
One of my favorite interchanges from his Brian Hawaii interview (the tape circulates): LL: "Brian, can you say hello to my mate Stephen McParland?" Brian: "Stephanie Pawland?" LL: "No, Stef-An-Mic-Par-Land" Brian: "Hi to Stef-An-Mic-Par-Land"
The name conflict is a non-issue. First come first served -- just like a football team that buys the contract of a player who wears the number "12" on his kit (uniform), when that team already has a player wearing 12 -- unless they want to work out something behind the scenes. How about "Professor Lavery?"
Welcome Lawrence!
Lee
