Come on… This is a very interesting snapshot into the group's history… It boggles the mind this has not been released yet. I realize this is not exactly a time in the group's history that everybody is proud of, but it deserves to be seen. It will make some sales. The Beach Boys Corporation, plus the wives and managers, must know this.

This will come out at some point, I have no doubt about that. Maybe it will take the passing of certain band members, sad to say. But I feel that in my lifetime, this will be released. It will extract cash from fans' pockets, which is the main purpose of releasing product. Why not now?

I doubt that will happen.

Maybe you are right. But I hope not. After all, it shows the group recording songs in the studio, which is a rarity. This time period is not all that far from their classic period.

If this was in regards to an album that was only two or three albums prior, you could bet your bottom dollar this would be already on the market.

I guess this documentary is the Beach Boys' version of the Beatles' "Let it Be"... No, I am not comparing the material. But it is a period in which both bands are not exactly proud of. There was major tension.

But LIB was at least released at some point on laserdisc. Everybody knows it's a matter of time before the LIB documentary comes out. These bands are both cash cows. It will happen eventually. So let's get the Beach Boys' doc out now!

I'd pay big bucks just to get a clear(er) take on the "Mike Come Back To L.A." segment.

I concur. I mean, this documentary has to be less embarrassing to the band when compared to Adult/Child, right?  A/C is another obvious item that needs proper release, but I feel that it's more of a no-brainer to put this out.

I mean, band member embarrassment must be the reason this has stayed in the vault for so long, right?

"Our Team" is another piece of material that has not been released, whose non-release after 36 years seems really strange. Can you imagine another major band having a professionally filmed documentary which shows deceased bandmembers recording songs, and the only known video performance of them doing lead vocals, and having such an item languish in the vaults?  (Other than LIB, but that was certainly a film that showed The Beatles at a greater time of disagreement, which was obvious and palpable on film, compared to this.)

Only in the world of this nutty band that we love.

I'm in. Completely surprised a halfway decent copy hasn't surfaced after all these years.

And while we're at it, remaster and release the 1976 NBC TV Special.  Even the re-released DVD isn't an improvement of my old VHS copy.

And while we're at it, release the Wouldn't It Be Nice documentary in the U.S.!!!!   And the 20th Anniversary Special on DVD wouldn't be bad either!

Anybody heard any rumors about an eventual release of Let It Be on DVD??

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

The clips from the '76 special that appear on the AAB documentary seem to be of a higher resolution than the Good Vibrations Tour DVD. Perhaps Malcolm Leo had access to a first generation copy.

I'm up for it.

@Mikie - add Endless Harmony to the list.  I watched my DVD copy the other day and it could certainly use a sprucin'.

I'd love to see it but wasn't Brian starting to unravel again at this point? Too much footage of an erratic or depressed Brian is not something Melinda is going to sign off on.

There are so many Concerts etc that could be officially released which come from good source material.  Maybe along with this they could add in the news clip of them singing There Hearts Were Full of Spring from 1981.

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0bxqX4FuZnA

or include this with a reissue of some DC concerts.

Thing is, Our Team is such a short documentary...I'd want it released on something that had something else. Same reason I never bought The Lost Concert -- didn't feel like paying for a DVD with just a 20-minute black-and-white concert!

But I would love to see it on something better than a 432nd-generation VHS.

Just occurs to me...Going Platinum might be a good companion piece to make it a twofer DVD/Blu-ray...it'd certainly give fans an interesting peek into a specific later-era period of Beach Boys-ness...or maybe make it a "bonus" DVD with the 20th anniversary special...although I'm not in a rush to go out and buy something with Brian trying to croak out "Don't Worry, Baby" from his coke-ravaged vocal cords (although it IS cool to hear him instantly switch down to a lower harmony)...
