It's down to the final - between Margaritaville and Surfin' U.S.A.  How can Jimmy Buffett's song be leading?  Quick - vote for Da Boys!

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

I once saw a Jimmy Buffett yoga CD in a bargain bin.

Both songs are great for different reasons. It's hard to pick one, but I gave the edge to Surfin' USA. Hell, any of the band's 1962-65 summery stuff could be "best summer song ever" material.

Eh my vote still goes to "Here Comes Summer" by Jerry Keller.  It was "The Beach Boys" before there was even a Beach Boys.

Now as far as The Beach Boys go, to me their songs are about so much more than a certain season of the year.  I guess most fans start off associating them with summer or California or whatever but I don't think it stays that way for long.  There is so much more to The Beach Boys than all of that so I guess that why I don't necessarily associate them only with June-August.

The Beach Boys and Jimmy Buffett are hard to disassociate from the summer season in the minds of many folks, but both artists have material much deeper than what they're known for.

I can't stand Jimmy Buffet. Even though Surfin U.S.A is not the best summer song (Summertime, Summertime is imo.)

Yesterday, before I started the thread, The Beach Boys were behind by 7 percentage points. Now they are ahead by 10. Not sure if it has to do with votes from people from this board but keep 'em coming Beach Boys fans!

Of all the great "summer" songs the Beach Boys did, the one that I like the best, the one that makes me think and feel the most like summer - is "It's OK".

I love all the Beach Boys' great songs, but I must mention that the song Beach Baby by First Class really sums up well all the great summer feelings, an incredible song.  All Summer Long brings back great summer memories for me as well.

That rocks!

Although the singular song I will always associate summer with is "Summer in the City" by the Loving Spoonful. I was freaking hot that summer too.  Wink

Hey Little Tomboy is creepy. Banging women by the pool is fun and conjures up warm summer thoughts a Beach Boys song should.

I like Buffett, but he can't compare to The Boys. I'm surprised the Parrotheads didn't mobilize on this one. They're a pretty rabid bunch. I guess the Margaritas didn't wear off in time.

The real answer is 'The Girls on the Beach', but hey I'll take 'Surfin' USA'.

The only Jimmy Buffet song I kinda like is 'A Pirate Looks At Forty'. Everything else is disposable with me.
