Nez just posted the venues on Facebook. Seattle's show will be at the Neptune Theatre. University District I believe. Portland will be at the Aladdin Theatre, which is a great place to see a show - saw Jr. Brown there some years back.

I downloaded a recent show in his UK tour prior to the November Monkees run. FYI that he does quite a bit of storytelling, setting up the songs poetically. It's not your typical bam-bam knock out the hits kind of show. Then again, Nez marches to his own different drum.

I used to   go to the Neptune to see old movies. In fact, saw a double bill of A Hard Days Night and Head back in 1987. Will be surreal seeing Nez in the same surroundings....assuming, again, the ticket prices aren't astronomical.

I know someone who saw Nesmith play a nightclub a few decades ago where the ticket price was 99 cents. And said it was too much at that price. Something about how Mike slowed down all the songs and wasn't very good. I'm not that impressed by the clips I've seen of his latest shows in England. I enjoyed seeing him on the last Monkees tour, but he played the songs mostly like the original arrangements, which I don't think he will for his solo shows. His ego gets in the way. He's also a very, very wealthy man, so I'm not sure why he should charge high ticket prices.

I have the Live at the Palais album from 1978 Australian tour, and he does slow down all the songs there. Joanne just crawls. Propinquity works well, as does Calico Girlfriend....but it's far from my favorite Nez record. Watched Live at the Britt Festival with my folks, and dad, of all people, complained about the music not being lively enough. But I'd go see him anyway, as it's not likely to happen again, and I've got a copy of Headquarters that Davy, Micky and Peter have signed for me (separately). But being wealthy will not stop Nez from charging a high price for his shows - Paul McCartney certainly never needs to make another dollar in his life, but his shows are priced up there for the 1% among us. And the BB's reunion shows were not bargain priced, either.

The show looks like it will be much closer to the original arrangements than the more experimental UK tour.
For those wondering if they should go, all I can say to give you an idea of the quality of the show, having actually been to see him solo last year, is that he was better than the two reunion shows I saw in Italy, not as good as the Wembley show, and about equal with the Van Dyke Parks shows I've seen.

That Joanne single was one of the first that I ever bought when I was a kid. I use to love that song, but at the time didn't pay attention that he was a Monkee. Too bad Davy Jones wasn't around the last couple of months to join Nesmith, Tork, and Dolenz on stage as a group.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

I think the death of Davy made Michael realise that he missed his former bandmates. Wish they would release a dvd of their 1997 UK tour.

Actually, they were in talks to tour together before Davy died. The main thing that got Nez interested in performing again, both Monkees and solo, was that around the same time he both got divorced and had cataract surgery so he could see properly for the first time in years.

I didn't read until recently that Mike was a Christian Scientist.  Cataracts are such an easy thing to diagnose by a GP or an optometrist that he must never have gone to doctors to have let something like that slip by for years (either that, or he was too scared when he started losing vision, I suppose a lot of people don't think cataracts are a possibility until they are older than their 60s).

I know that's the story going around now, but forgive me if I'm a bit cynical about Mike wanting to have reunited with the other guys before Davy died. He's a great artist, but as a person, can  be difficult - like leaving the guys after the 97 UK tour without a word of warning.

I read an interview with Micky right after Davy's death where he said that there had been discussions about the four of them touring. Nez and Micky also definitely met up at the back end of 2011 at Nez's first solo show.
