Got this from an Elvis messageboard:
CANONSBURG, Pa. — The American Pop Music Hall of Fame won't be open until next summer, but the first round of nominees to be inducted into the western Pennsylvania-based hall has been announced.
The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra are among the top 40 nominees.
The American Pop Music Hall of Fame is scheduled to open next July in a temporary home in what's now a cafe in Canonsburg, just outside Pittsburgh. Fundraising is under way for a permanent building.
Music fans and people in the industry can vote for their favorite nominees online starting later this week. The final list of 20 inductees will be inducted next May. Eligible artists must have lodged a national hit between 1946 and 1975.
Other nominees include The Beach Boys, Tony Bennett, the Carpenters, Chubby Checker, Bobby Darin, Neil Diamond and Simon and Garfunkel.
Voters are also being asked to pick their top five songs, from a list of 100 released between 1966 and 1975, that best defined that generation. The finalists will be narrowed down by the Hall of Fame selection panel, with 10 eventually inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Canonsburg calls itself the country's "small town music capital" and boasts native sons including Perry Como, Bobby Vinton and the Four Coins.

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST
To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.
