Also, just to lay some truth on you, Yoko Ono is a great songwriter and noise musician, and the moronic pop culture trope that she broke up The Beatles doesn't mean you can dismiss the entirety of her work. Every Man Has a Woman Who Loves Him, Kiss Kiss Kiss, I'm Moving On, Yes I'm Your Angel (hey, if Paul can do it).... great songs, and certainly as good as anything John was writing for that record. Also, Walking On Thin Ice, Nobody Sees Me Like You Do, her Plastic Ono Band album..... 'Nuff Said.

Yoko may be a great songwriter... but I wouldn't know, because her performance skills are so god-awful that it's impossible to suffer through any of her songs enough to judge whether it has any merit.  She would have been much better served letting her ego fall away and write the songs for John to sing, instead of her.

With that said though, I mean she can do whatever she wants, I know she has her fans and I doubt she cares if people like me who prefer music that's soothing to the ear like her or not.

I don't thik she broke up the Beatles, and I don't have any problems with her, I just havent' heard 1 song she ever wrote that I could make it all the way through.

I thought the same too, but I picked up a remix compilation of hers which keeps her vocals but has more sympathetic instrumentation and stuff, and it really brought the songs into focus - She can write good pop songs, they just aren't served very well by her production choices. And yes, I'm not saying she's Maria Callas  LOL

This convinced me, but then I love Jason Pierce too, so it wasn't a hard sell.

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.
What is this "life" thing you speak of ?

WOW they left out my favorite album magical mystery tour Sad
I voted for Rubber Soul..wow Revolver is kicking ass..I was about to vote for Revolver until I realized Yellow Submarine is on that album lol
I also was disappointed coz Magical Mystery Tour's my favorite record by The Beatles. But nevertheless, I voted "Revolver". As for Rubber Soul, I much prefer US v-n (though I like What Goes On in UK RS) but overall it's definitely not in my Top-5 of the band's albums.

Btw, I like Yellow Submarine. It has sunny mood, very positive & Ringo's vocals are very suitable for this song, can't imagine someone else singing it. Many say that YS sounds out of place there on Revolver but how about all those sound effects, all that cacophony of voices & so on? It might be a children's song but for me YS is as psychedelic as Tomorrow Never Knows or She Said She Said, just in another way, you know, fun psychedelia, no darkness. At least normally sounding average pop song doesn't have clinking glasses, rattling chains, ship's bell, bubbles, whistles all in one, not mentioning megaphone shouts. Don't know about others but I exactly hear something freaky on Yellow Submarine. Maybe I'm too influenced by YS cartoon, am not aware.
wow really? it's my favorite Smiley i love that album it's the strangest out of the beatles catalog plus i love every album and usually in the beatles albums there is always one song i don't like..
i voted for rubber soul because any time i'm sad all i have to do is play that album and my mood automatically changes plus it has a few of my favorite beatles songs (norwegian wood, think for yourself, wait,if i needed someone)
i absolutely hate yellow submarine..it feels like a nursery song and i love the effects but i hate the whole melody of the song..but ringo's voice fits that song more the rest of the beatles..

Yep, Norwegian Wood is outstanding, Wait is quite good but other 2 are not to my taste. As I see, you prefer British Rubber Soul, dontcha? And have you heard Stars on 45's Beatles Medley? Imo most of their covers knock out the Beatles' songs, especially No Reply, Good Day Sunshine, Do You Want To Know A Secret. Besides, oddly there was included 1 George Harrison song, "My Sweet Lord"! Why - mystery.
yes that's the first version of rubber soul i heard...i actually prefer all the uk versions of their albums Smiley what about you? i never heard of that group? should i check it out youtube right now? :D

I like mostly their American brothers, they have somewhat nice flow. As for Stars on 45, I don't know about right now but you definitely should check it out. Just for comparison. Here are 2 examples:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVpcGDJxDEc - Beatles Medley (full v-n)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhY_yvFxekk - Rolling Stones Medley. Enjoy!
I love the way they did I'll be back Smiley it's so pretty just like the original...see this is how you remix a song? who's the DJ?
wow really? how about a hard day's night? the us version doesn't flow at all :/..i didn't like how they mixed the stones at all..somethings just can't be remixed ..right now the stones are my favorite band..last week it was the beach boys maybe next week it'll be the beatles..

Fifty Years of The Beatles poll - After all this time, what is your favourite Beatles album?

Vote here: http://www.thisdayinmusic.com/pages/favorite_beatles_album

I don't have much to add except to say that in my life I've loved them all.  For me that most comprehensive collection of great music out there is The Beatles catalog.  I'm so glad that I have had the opportunity to take their music into my life.  Still missing and thinking of the good doctor and the favorite mystic.
