Since only a few of M & B's band member's are joining Brian's terrific ensemble to back the new tour what will become of those poor guys? I've seen Brian's band several times and know how great they are and I have seen M & B's BB's on You Tube and was always impressed. I kind of feel bad for them... Sad

Oh, I'd imagine Mike and Bruce will go back to their usual 2 billion dates a year as soon as the reunion is over, without skipping a beat.

Some of their guys might be happy for the break.

I'm sure anybody in the band could find another gig if they need the work.

The three that were not included were Tim Bonhomme, Christian Love, and Randell Kirsch.  I have a hunch they are paid decently and probably will be OK taking a year off, but I could be wrong.  Christian has his band 5-Alarm which I'm sure he'd be happy to play more dates with.  I think both Tim and Randell are part of that same band too?

Christian was said he's not interested in playing the Celebration 50 tour. As for taking a year off, I'm betting Mike & Bruce will go right back to what they've been doing since 1998 after the tour is done - it's only 50 dates, remember.

I wouldn't feel too bad for "those poor guys" I doubt they'll be shunted off to some grim Dickension workhouse

Christian was said he's not interested in playing the Celebration 50 tour.

Wonder why?

Curiously, looking through the 50th Anniversary Tour program, Tim Bonhomme is listed as the road manager on the tour. Slightly weird, and interesting.

Your post implies that ChrLove was asked to be a part of the tour, then?

Christian's actually said himself that he's not a fan of the band's music. He's allowed. If he wants to play for a few extra bucks from Michael, go ahead.

Isn't it getting closer to 75?

Where did you see this? That's kinda surprising, as he also is now part of the California Saga group.

Tim Bonhomme is working the 50th tour on the management side, so he has a gig.

And the newest ESQ says Randell Kirsch (and Alan Boyd) is working with Dean Torrence on a new project.

I thought the same thing, if he isn't interested in the tour or the music why has he played so many dates with the Mike and Bruce Beach Boys band and why is he with California Saga?? Very confusing.

He's a musician and it's a regular gig. Even if he doesn't much like the music, he's a performer and may well enjoy playing live whatever he's playing. Or it might be as a favour to his dad.

As for California Saga, I can't see that being a long-term ongoing professional thing, as opposed to something with a gig every few months at a charity event or something (UNLESS there's a conscious passing-of-the-torch thing going on there -- I could imagine them being given the license to tour as 'the Beach Boys' after the 50th tour is over, though I think it's incredibly unlikely). Probably just an excuse to hang out with some of his extended family a bit.

There'll be NO passing of the torch/license to play, until Mike can't get any bookings for his BBs to play a show.

imo Christian Love might be in on CalSaga because they are not doing "409" 150 times a year. CL is a young guy, he probably has a greater liking to the post-PS part of the catalogue and as CalSaga is extended family and friends closer to his age it is more comfortable to do it. Who wants to hang out with dad forever, right? just my two cents
