I posted a little bit about this elsewhere, but in hopes of reaching a larger audience, I post here.

If anybody is near-ish to Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Friday, June 22nd, I will be performing a free show, all Beach Boys tunes, in honor of the 50th anniversary.

I'm still recruiting musicians to help out by the way--if you're interested.

Reasons you ought to come:

I worked with Alan Boyd for a while, so the in-between song banter may feature some anecdotes "from the vaults."

You might hear about my meetings with various Beach Boys.

You'll hear some of your favorite music, including a disproportionate number of Love You songs.

If you show up and mention the board here, I might be able to make it worth your while.  Let's just say you might come away hearing something many people on this board would pay a lot of money to hear...whatever that means, huh?

Now for the fashion advice:  I want to wear a shirt like Brian's here:

Anybody have any idea where I might get one?

Most shirts with that type of big bright stripe pattern and a button front are rugby shirts.  Do a search for striped rugby shirt and you might find something similar if not identical.

It is a little surprising that I seem to be the only Smiley Smiler in This area.

I'm across Lake Michigan in Wisconsin, and the first ferry of the year across the big pond ran aground last week.  I'd love to come, but I can't get away that weekend.  Good luck with the show, H.

Like this! Will last forever as they are so strong. If you want to go the whole hog I guess you could cut off the sleeves and neck but that seems a bit extreme.

I would totally take the 13 hour drive to Michigan to hear things.
