Settle Down
Telephone Backgrounds On A Clear Day
Wouldn't It Be Nice To Live Again

Apologises if this topic has been covered previously, but has anyone here actually heard any of the ORIGINAL versions of these tracks?
And might we ever, ever get to hear 'em, particuarly (and I'm sure I'm not alone on this) WIBNTLA?

No...

No...

Yes, and it's about the best still unreleased BB track there is: it's just majestic, best DW lead vocal ever. If it were down to me, it'd be out on download tomorrow.

I want to annoy Phil Cohen. A 24 hour delay should do it nicely.

I don't think the first two have even seen the light of day. The third one was played at a Beach Boys convention in Connecticut about 10 years ago. Adam Marsland & The Chaos Band did a cover of it and put it on an album called "Long Promised Road: Songs Of Carl & Dennis Wilson".

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

I'm fully aware of WIBNTLA.

Unless I've missed it somewhere, the origin for these titles is Badman's Diary.

Yeah, that's where I first heard of 'em. I've heard the WIBNTLA cover, but I want to hear the original. Is their some sort of record company/band-baiting petition we could start? How about everyone here, if and whenever they next get the opportunity to meet anyone in or connected to the BB's, brings up WIBNTLA and demands a release? I'm putting a threatening note together to send to the record company using letters cut out of old newpaper headlines as we speak...

'Telephone Backgrounds' is supposed to be some kind of Moog experiment by Carl, not a proper song.

When I read "Telephone Backgrounds", the first thing I  think about is those lyrics from Cabin Essence that were not used.

Never heard of the first two, what year are they from and who wrote them? I would give my left nut to hear WIBNTLA, I've heard nothing but glowing reviews for it, It's from the Surfs Up era is it not?

A Facebook page entirely dedicated to WIBNTLA? ALso, why shouldn't I trust Badman? Lifting the occasional quote or section from another book doesn't automatically mean he's misinformed re the band's catalogue surely...

Badman didn't lift "the occasional quote or section from another book", he stole huge chunks of them, and my website, and used them without proper attribution, as the publishers admitted when I challenged them on it.

Additionally, if you go to the gigs & sessions section of 10452, you'll see concerts between 1961 and 1976 are noted with an asterisk. This denotes a show that Badman with dated incorrectly, had in the wrong town or plain missed. There are a LOT of them, as Ian Rusten discovered.

Ah, that i did not know. That's a shame, had previously thought of it as a good book... Bit disappointing to hear.

On the subject of unreleased tracks, just listened to Out In The Country. Where does this track originate from? Was it ever intended for an album?

(Oh, and i strongly recommend listening to the Had To Phone Ya backing track on youtube. Sounds spectacular! Is there actually a stunning album hidden away somewhere on 15 Big Ones waiting to get out....?)
