I brought this up once before, but I am working on something and thought I'd ask again.  Did anyone who posts see Mike live in 1981 with the Endless Summer Beach Band?  What do you recall?  I have ads and a few reviews-but I am unsure about the tours-were these poorly attended, were some canceled (I know Toad's Place in New Haven was canceled and a show in Philly, also a show at Harpo's in Detroit was canceled) Did anyone see Mike at the Savoy in NYC (that show was played) or at the Channel Club in Boston in Nov 81? Anyone see Mike at the Sheraton Lounge in Portland, OR in Dec 81?  If so let me know what you recall about these events.  The shows reviewed in papers were the Bayou in DC in Nov 81 and the August 81 app at the Country Club in LA.  Feel free to PM me about the 81 tour.

If he didn't play "Oh Those Girls" while wearing extremely tight pants, a vest, and a boat captain's hat, I'm mad at him.

Be surprised if he did - the song's unreleased and was recorded after the album was released anyway.  Grin

I saw him at Lake Lanier Islands in Georgia. What do I remember? Let's see, he did "Imagination," Jeff Foskett was part of the backing band, and I accurately predicted the exact running order of the encore, to the amazement of my concert companions. LOL

Correction: "Imagine"

Saw him at Lake Lanier , a softball park in Marietta and the Agora Ballroom in downtown Atlanta Ga. Always put on a good show! Had dinner with him after the Marietta show and he was very funny . Never had a bad experience with the Lovester!

Cool-I knew he played those shows.  I was curious though a bout some of the others.  The November 81 tour was badly promoted and a bunch of dates ended up being canceled.  So since the New Haven show was canceled and so was one in Detroit, I was curious if anyone actually saw him in Boston at the Channel Club or maybe it was canceled too?  The article about the Detroit (Harpo's) cancelation said no one in town was even aware that he had a solo album out-so he probably wasn't getting any radio play and hadn't advertised the gig too well (No ads for it in the Detroit News).  I know he did play the Savoy in NYC-I know someone who saw it-Jeff Foskett and Randall Kirsch were dressed in 60s BB attire-striped shirts and white pants.  He played songs from his solo album and lots of BB songs.  'Calendar Girl', 'Be My Baby,' things like that.  Bobby Figueroa played some of the shows in August and sang 'Darlin.'
