Also found the Dutch article on the Holland album. Oor (Ear) magazine (nr22, Nov.1st 1997). A 6-page article written by Job Twisk. Pictures of Carl, Brian, Dennis, Mike in the Netherlands. Also a picture of the Boys in 1970 (Concertgebouw, Amsterdam). And - surprising - even a picture of a small party in The Netherlands of the local recordcompany on which the Boys attended...Audree Wilson is present as well as Marilyn. Lot of background information and inside stories of those narrowly involved with the project. Great article.
Yep, that's the one! More about it on Malc's site: http://pipeline-operaglass.moonfruit.com/Where it's all covered......

I know that in 1997/98 there were plans to make a Dutch documentary for the 25th anniversary of (the making of) Holland. Unfortunately they weren't able to get most of the key-members to get some interviews. Although later on some interviews with Blondie, Ricky and I think Brian or Alan did appear in Mojo (I think) and a Dutch magazine (of which the name doesn't pop into mind right now) in which Holland was discussed. Too bad, it would've been quite interesting.
Too bad that documentary you mention was never made. I do know that Dutch music magazine OOR published an article in 1997 about "Holland", and I have it, but it does not include any (new or -then- recent) interviews with any band members. It does however, include a few nice pictures. By the way, thanks everyone!

"She's a Jar" by Wilco.
Not a bad song, though I prefer Yankee Hotel Foxtrot to Summer Teeth (save for "Can't Stand It", "I'm Always In Love", and "How To Fight Lonliness").
I've always liked "Being There" too. Great band, Wilco. Can't go wrong really with any of their albums (that includes "Sky Blue Sky"). Check out the "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" demos as well, excellent stuff. I'm listening to another oldie: "Trouble Is A Lonesome Town" by Lee Hazlewood.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / "Holland" video footage?

Does anybody know how much video footage exists of the guys' short 1972 stint in the Netherlands?
Were they filmed in the studio? Chasing cows?
I know there are some clips on the "Endless Harmony" DVD (or was it "An American Band"?), so, I was wondering if there's any more?

Dug this up from my Lennon collection:
I Don't Want To Lose You
length: 5:01 recorded: 1977 instrumentation: piano
Surfaced originally from a tape source on the Vigotone bootleg The Dakota Beatle Demos under the title "Now And Then", taken from Jeff Lynne's comments on the song which was intended to be the basis for the third "reunion" single accompanying the Beatles Anthology. The actual title, 'I Don't Want To Lose You', was confirmed in 2005 when the composition was featured in the John Lennon broadway musical. The buzz running throughout the demo is part of the original recording, as Lynne mentions having trouble with restoring the demo for overdubbing purposes by the remaining Beatles. Fortunately, the cause of this problem was sorted out and the rest of the tape with three takes of both 'Free As A Bird' and 'Whatever Happened To..?' is free of it. It's unclear how much work on the song was done in 1995 before it was abandoned and Anthology 3 didn't feature a new song but was forced to open with 'A Beginning' instead.

Fadiga had some heart problems, yes, and Kanu had to undergo heart surgery when he only just signed for Internazionale (from Ajax). Oh, harsher punishments would definitely help, I agree. Yeah, I tipped 5 or 6 correctly, haha, there's always a couple of surprises every week, but it's fun to give it a shot every now and then........ Anelka. Why do you think it's weird? I think it's a good choice, since Drogba will be away for a couple of weeks, Shevchenko is injured and Drogba's the perfect replacement if you ask me. He knows what it takes to play in the Premier League, can score goals and has the ability to play up front on his own if necessary. Of course it's a lot of money to pay for a 'short term replacement', but judging from the rumours Drogba's looking for a move away from Chelsea in the summer, so he could be the long-term replacement as well. What else do you think will happen on the transfer market in the next two weeks or so? A lot of rumours in the papers (or on the websites), as usual the final days of the transfer window will probably be very hectic again, haha. What do you think, which teams need strengthening? And if so, where? And who would you recommend? (Haha, just realised, these questions should keep you busy for a while...... )

Been listening to a lot of Joanna Newsom lately, along with some Ladytron, and The Bird & The Bee.
Joanna's music is wonderful, maybe an acquired taste (it's not everybody's cup of tea), but her last record "Ys" is outstanding. Check out Marissa Nadler as well. As for myself: a lot of Caribou ("Andorra"), Great Lake Swimmers ("Ongiara"), Radiohead ("In Rainbows" of course) and (former Merry-Go-Round member) Emitt Rhodes (various albums).

Shocked by the death of Motherwell's captain Phil O'Donnell this weekend. Only 35 years old. Puts things in perspective. Very sad. R.I.P. Good ideas to get rid of the diving problem in football. Something should be done about it, but it's also an attitude problem. I don't think it'll ever disappear completely from the game, but right now it's getting way out of hand. Yes, I remember that Ibrahimovic goal very well, incredible. He once scored a fabulous goal for Ajax against NAC Breda (it might even have been his last one for the club, I'm not sure), still his best if you ask me. Here it is: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZgqsaDnsEq8Reminds me of some of Bergkamp's best. Genius. Ah, that Kanu hattrick was awesome! He's still one of my favourite players, and he was untouchable that day. Brilliant goals. We've reached the end of the year, but fortunately the Premier League is only halfway, time for some predictions for tomorrow's and Wednesday's games: Arsenal v West Ham Aston Villa v Spurs (draw)Fulham v ChelseaMan Utd v Birmingham Boro v EvertonReading v Portsmouth Blackburn v Sunderland Bolton v Derby Liverpool v Wigan Newcastle v Man City (draw)The African Cup Of Nations is coming up, a lot of clubs (Arsenal, Portsmouth, Everton for instance) will lose key players for a couple of weeks, who do you think will be most affected by this? Or do you think they'll be able to cope without them? As for the World Footballer Of The Year Award, I think Kaka deserved to win, but it's always a close call isn't it? The players nominated are all excellent, world-class players. I think Cristiano Ronaldo has improved a lot over the last 12 months, he's become a much better team player. He used to bring out his bag of tricks every minute, but it did not always lead to something. There wasn't always an end result. Showing off his skills. But now, he's brought it all together, he's scoring goals for fun: penalties, free kicks, headers, tap ins, placed shots, goals from dribbles, the lot. And he's a great provider, bringing in a lot of crosses. Plus he's got so much pace, it's almost impossible to defend him now. You never know what he's going to do next. The main contender for Player Of The Season I think. Happy New Year to all, let's hope it's going to be a wonderful football year.

Cricket is not very popular over here, only with a small group of (fanatic) people, and it'll never be as popular over here as it is in your country or in the UK. Yeah, yeah, remember that hilarious incident, it was at the Olympics wasn't it? Short track. I see what you mean about Hewitt, he's not a very popular guy is he? There was a game once I remember seeing where he was already leading 6-1, 5-0 or something and still celebrating a winning point as if it was a crucial, deciding point by yelling "Come on!". That really pissed off the opponent (I think it was Martin Verkerk), and they had some words when they changed sides. I like to watch rugby (on the BBC mostly), mainly because of the attitude of the players and the fair play and respect they show for the referee. A lot of footballers can learn something from that! Look at all the tackles! A footballer gets a slight push and rolls on the floor as if he's been shot.... Wussies. That's some good advice Ian Rush gave you. And he should know! He scored goals for fun. But I understand your determination to do well and impress him. I've been in the same situation when I was a kid, also had some training sessions by pro players. And there were always scouts watching, and they told us before the game...... As a result we failed to impress, haha, because we were too busy trying to impress, doing tricks, trying to score goals from outside the box etc. That's a pretty good goalscoring record! You're right about tall players not always being the best headers. Kanu is another example. Ibrahimovic. It's all about the timing, positioning and jumping skills. Cahill is a good example, as we discussed before. I prefer the ball to be played in my feet as well. I think Messi is 169cm, but he received some special 'growing treatment', as he was really short (155cm) a couple of years ago. But he doesn't need to be a good header, he has some other nice skills, haha.
