And it's not like any of us have these songs on bootlegs and know the name of such bootlegs...
Jeez.... Just tell him the name of the boots! You all have multiple copies, most likely. Don't do any French deals here, but give him the info. You do it, Bgas! Hurry up before a tornado rips through St. Louie again! If I had it/them, I would have added the info. I don't have a lot of that stuff on CDs Lei'd in Hawaii - Rehearsals (August 25,1967), Vigotone VIGO-133 (1994)

So at the risk of sounding unhip, what did VDP actually contribute to "Follow That Bird". From recollection there is a song on there that sounds like a complete take off of "Busy Doing Nothing". I believe the song is called "Easy Goin' Day" Is that a Parks tune?
According to AllMusic.com, VDP is co-crdited with composing all the songs: http://www.allmusic.com/album/follow-that-bird-mw0000607531 No songwriting credits on the CD reissue, which only says arrangements by VDP and Lennie Niehaus. By the way VDP gets a thank you on the "Club Paradise" Soundtrack album. What for? Jimmy Cliff and The Mighty Sparrow are on it, maybe that's why. Anyone any info?

I bought the "California Girls" 45 when it came out in 1965 (still my favourite); then purchased all the albums that had been released at the time and did so ever since. I've got all the albums as first pressings (vinyl, German) and as two-fers on CD, plus about 60 bootlegs (Vinyl and CD) plus the complete unsurpassed masters series In the late seventies I started collecting BB 7"/EPs seriously (only original issues with Picture Sleeves) and I've got now about 550 from all over the world, but still far from complete. I'm also collecting stuff by Gary Usher, Curt Boettcher, Terry Melcher, P.F.Sloan, Gary Zekley and Van Dyke Parks (solo records and productions), most of which have only been released on 7" - those are nearly complete now with maybe just a dozen or so still missing.

Working title of the song "Baby What You Want Me To Do" seems to have been "Peep and Hide" (taken from the lyrics at the beginning of the third verse) AFM contract # 106707 Date: Aug 17, 1964 Personnel: Tommy Morgan, Hal Blaine, Tommy Tedesco, Bill Pitman Producers: Brian Wilson, Bob Norberg Employer: Grand Prix Records Session leader: Hal Blaine
At the bottom of the contract it reads "Originally was Sea Of Tunes, later changed to Grand Prix"
AFM reprint can be found in: Stephen McParland: Our Favourite Recording Sessions, CM Publishing 2000, p. 79f.
Backing Vocals on both sides of the 45, which was only released about a year later: The Honeys
1965 Jane Canada released two 45s on the Crusader Label (118) Just before The Night/Just Imagination (125) Am I Dreaming/Remind My Baby Of Me and one on the Magic Lamp label (616) Am I Dreaming/You eyes Will Tell On You (no involvement from Norberg or Wilson)

good news for all Boettcher fans - it has been quite awhile now since something substantial from the vaults has been unearthed. PS: Hi Jason, no action on the Boettcher board for years - who is running the website now??

Yeah, I miss that list - If there's any chance you PM me it or something I'd be much obliged. Another cool thing I forgot - He is listed as 'Tail Gunner' and provides a 'good zen koan or two' (Are you out there, Bill) on 'Feats Don't Fail Me Now' by Little Feat. or as "morale booster" on "Roger Nichols and The Small Circle of Friends" album

Just tried to post it to you via PM, but the list is probably messed up because it isn't correctly formatted. Try to reconvert it to Microsoft WORD and see what happens. Is it working? Cheers Gerhard

It's really a shame that this album gets snowed under now. It should have been released at least a month earlier or later. This may not be one of Brian's greatest works of art, but it's a very charming and pleasant album. I listened to it four or five times yesterday and really enjoyed it.
True!
