Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: The Who

Time to return to this fine topic... The Who were arguably at their most psychedelic on Sell Out, and the most psychedelic track on that album has to be "Armenia, City In The Sky". (This is when Jay steps in and tells me I'm talking nonsense. ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7wrwctQS3sI actually agree completely. I often think of "Sell Out" as their psychedelic album and period. Another contender might be the outtake "Melancolia". I'm still trying to come up with a hypothetical post Sell Out but pre Tommy album, by the way. "Melancolia" has always been one of my favorite Who tracks. By the way the new album is due at the beginning of December

The studio version of We Got Love actually made it on to some German pressings of HOLLAND.
Some hundreds were pressed and then withdrawn, when the mistake was noticed The same happened with the German Help me Rhonda and California Saga 45s, first pressing had the Today/album version of the songs - this was rectified with the secong pressing.

Wow, very cool. Didn't realize he'd produced The Gosdin Brothers and Tommy Roe's A Winter's Day.
Winter's Day was credited to Steve Clark (but Paxton actually was the man in charge), voc.arr. were done by Curt Boettcher

the core of Celebration were ex-members of KING HARVEST (of Dancing In The Moonlight fame) Ron Altbach later became heavily involved with the BB (as producer, arranger and tour keyboard player), his tribute to the BB ("Beach Boys Suite"), recorded in 1979, was never officially released. Paul Fauerso produced Mike Love's First Love solo album.

A couple of years ago Stephen McParland wrote his biography with an extensive discography - out of print now but well worth picking up: Stephen McParland: P.F. - Travelling barefoot on a rocky road, CMusic Publishing 2000, 272 pages
