I always thought it was weird that on the main page they would allow a photo featuring an obviously depressed Brian holding a beer in his hand, and a blurry, out of focus Bruce.

This might be getting into bootleg territory, so I hope this post is allowed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtTLFB75IKY&feature=related Thewhole track is miraculous, but listen to 2:10 onward. If the note at 2:13 doesn't put your heart in your throat, something is wrong with you.

This is one of the greatest things I've ever heard. This is supposedly some of the oldest known music ever written or created: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBhB9gRnIHE

Do you guys remember a couple of months ago, there was a message "from Brian" about him adding previously unperformed older Beach Boys songs to his set list? Well, let's hope that this time "Brian" is announcing that he will play The Night Was So Young, Mona, Roller Skating Child, and other goodies personally selected from his favorite Beach Boys albums.

Isn't that just spaghetti with meat sauce? I had no idea it inspired such strong emotions.
Some people get naked and roll around in money. I do it with pasta.  Grin Needless to say, I will eat virtually any type of pasta ever created.

To pull this topic even further into off topic territory, I would LOVE to hear a Dennis Wilson version of Young and Beautiful.

It's not like the Beatles didn't bring tons of drugs there anyway. That's why they left, because Maharishi was against drugs and their use of drugs in his space.

Not even close. The Beatles left because they found out that the Maharishi was having a relationship with one of the women that came along for the trip.

I'm sorry, I forgot you snuck there with them hiding inside John's earlobe. My mistake.

Yeah, that and the hundreds of contemporary interviews with John himself. Sounds real unlikely.
Plus, i know what you're going to say next, and yes,  John changed his story on a lot of things over the years, but funnily enough, not the whole Rishikesh business. Could that possibly mean that, regardless whether someone was molested or not, he left for precisely the reason he's said he did for all these years? Surely not!
Thank you.  Smiley

Not everybody has session tapes. I, for one, don't have many.

This thing that we're all on here is called a messageboard. We all exchange messages to different people. Quite a few of these messages have this thing called "information". Part of a messageboard's function is to exchange said information. AGD, I respect you probably more than any other Beach Boys fan/expert out there. But there comes a time when you must occasionally come down from your high horse. Not everybody knows as much as you do at any particular part of the day at a mere drop of the hat.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again. Pet Sounds and Smile put Pepper to shame. He says as he quietly walks away, watching the rocks being thrown.  Grin

They were all angry with the Maharishi, but I think it was mainly John. I think he was the one who convinced George to go back to london with him.

I've always liked that "nah nah nah" part from the Smiley version of Wonderful. There is also a part in With Me Tonite that I like. It's near the end of the song, where you hear these "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh" vocals in the background, and the vocal almost goes to a whisper. There is also that great ending to I Wanna Pick You Up that's totally out of the blue. Same with the second half of the song Endless Harmony.

Lines. Lines around the block, oh, lines. Now the clock is striking seven-thirty. Ooooh, lines. Lines around the block. Lines. Now the clock is striking eight! Walk in, sit down. Previews from the coming show. Now the movie's starting ... oh: the movie's startin' kind of slow, but it'll get better. Oh! There's a scene with these two, oh, he's gonna get her love.
I was just listening to this the other day. That is quite possibly the weirdest song The Beach Boys ever recorded.  Grin
5744  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Jan & Dean on: October 02, 2009, 07:48:12 PM
Hey Mark, I have a Jan and Dean question, and I figured you'd probably be the best person to ask. In the DeadMan's Curve movie, there is a scene with a post accident Jan trying to record a song in the studio. I was hoping you could tell me the name of the song. Is it an actual song he did? Or is a made up song, like they did with the Dennis Wilson charactor in Summer Dreams?

That song was completely fictional.

Just like you never see Jan producing the music . . . another blatant falsehood spread by the movie.
Thanks for the info!  Smiley One more question for you. Did the whole ending scene in the movie ever actually happen? I'm talking about the scene where they lipsync to a backing tape that stops working, and all hell breaks loose.

5747  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Yer favorite lyrics on: September 30, 2009, 08:45:10 PM
In my opinion, the whole of Surf's Up is the single best written song in the entire history of songwriting. As far as single lyrics go, my favorites are "I don't know where, but she send me there" and "Young and beautiful, like a tree that's just been planted I found life today". So simple, yet so thought provoking and complex at the same time.
5748  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Anybody 60s artist or group that worked faster than Brian? on: September 23, 2009, 09:59:28 PM
Motown groups were known to release albums at a fast pace. But that really doesn't count in my opinion, as it was Berry Gordy pushing his groups, as opposed to the groups actually being creatively prolific.  The Temptations alone have issued around 65 albums since 1964.
