Yeah, but nothing's been done. Just like in the past. Thanks to spineless or incompetent moderators on PS Forum who openly lied and distorted to suit the needs of that place, this board is dragged through the mud, lies are allowed to stand, and it's swept under the carpet? No apologies, no comments about fixing things moving forward, taking future action to avoid this bullshit again...nothing.
Doesn't fly where I'm concerned. Sorry. If people are still posting lies and they're being believed, we just drop it and sing Kum-Bye-A together like nothing happened? Keep turning the other cheek and get cold-cocked until we have a jaw broken in multiple places? Nope. Not happenin'.
As far as the new sets of music, yeah they're great, terrific listening - Kudos especially to Mark and Alan. But I'm proud to say I didn't pay a dime for them and got them for free online. My principle is, if certain names are attached and others left off of any project related to the Beach Boys, I don't give them a dime or a penny of my money. Best money I never spent.
GF - I haven't commented much about this part of the thread, since I've never visited PS forum, nor will I. I don't have the stomach to deal with any of those people anymore. What I can say is I truly appreciate your insistence on correcting lies wherever you see them. That's really admirable. Selfishly, some of the lies were probably more than once, about me, so that's appreciated too. So, thanks again.

Ah I remember being a new fan as well. Twenty three years goes by quickly apparently!
What are your favorites?
And to re-direct the topic back to Billy's question upthread to me (sorry--I would have responded sooner but was out all day). My favorites shift around regularly, but "Wouldn't It Be Nice," "Please Let Me Wonder," "God Only Knows," "Love and Mercy," Pet Sounds, SMiLE, and most through the late 1970s, and some pre- Pet Sounds songs. Also love the quirky Zappa-like songs of Brian Wilson (a long-time Zappa fan). Back to the BBs, I love what most of you on the board love, but became a fan on the spot after going to a Brian Wilson concert with someone else and was blown away--then started listening and reading. I am amazed at the knowledge here on the board. Wild Honey through Holland are my favorite recordings by anybody....not just the Beach Boys, I mean literally everybody. Here's a confession that I never thought I would make...as great as Pet Sounds and SMiLE are, I think Wild Honey and Friends are even better. Billy, I hope I'm not throwing this thread off, but I just saw your post. When I met Brian in '69, he asked me, "what's your favorite album, I mean besides 'Pet Sound'." That final part was sweet and a little sad at the same time. When I replied "Friends," I think his response was the most excited I'd ever seen him, "Yes, me too, yes!" "Wild Honey" and "Friends" were both so brilliant as Brian went full-on into other genres and immediately mastered them. The brilliance is astoundng. This story makes me so happy! Friends is my second favorite, and I consider it to be a part of Brian's select albums that deal with his life story: Pet Sounds, Friends, Love You, and No Pier Pressure. Each of those albums has some type of charm and eloquence that is pure Brian Wilson. Rab - you nailed it. I hadn't through about it, but those albums really work.

Just about to watch. Sounds good. https://youtu.be/JdM_mSsBWCkEdit: Pretty good interview and format. Certainly better than either Brian or Mike. Interesting how he mentions ‘don’t believe the naysayers’ when he mentions interactions between members. Thx so much for sharing that. Loved both the interview and Al's vocals. He is absolutely amazing, sounding like that at this point in time. I just saw him with Brian live about a month ago, and his calm, intelligent, often amused approach to whatever happens adds to what he contributes as an artist. The man is a treasure.

Thanks so much GF...and it wouldn't be even close to what it is without your hard work and all those of you who make it happen.
Agreed 100%. I think back to three or more years ago when Guitarfool was being harassed on every corner of this board and some people wanted him gone because he was trying to clean up this place. Yet this forum is now a haven of incredible information with pretty much zero drama. As JK said above, the recent Barney Kessel topic is a testament to the depth of knowledge that is ever present on this forum. A major thanks to GF, Billy, and the countless others who make this place such a special and necessary part of the fandom. I've been a member for almost 10 years now, and I can't wait to see what the next 10 bring! Agreed Rab...GF and Billy both put up with an unbelievable amount of crap, some of it defending me and my right to tell the truth here, and I truly appreciate it. I suspect there were things behind the scenes that they also cleaned up that we'll never know about. Some of the shadows of what was going on there was pretty obvious, but they had to deal with it all. That took guts. The people with ugly and/or self-serving agendas, along with some serious head-case trolls and liars appear to be gone. That's a big deal. Now to the positive side of why this place still thrives - lots of knowledge and intelligence still gives this board fascinating, up-to-date info. It's a treasure without the trauma of the past. We owe these people a lot!

If you've read Breams Mpls. Star review don't give this guy too much value. Dennis Wilson stood on stage and told of how is mother was born in this state and how much it meant to the group to play here. Bream's article stated Minnesota basically were fools for believing this and Dennis states this at every show. No research on his part at all. Go to the show if you can. It's more than a Blue Christmas for fans. The Angel's up above even brought us snow to help make the eve bright. I'm interested to see how other's view the next months of show's. The first note , informs you your in the right place, Brian playing Christmas songs, did you ever think you would see this? That's why you should go!
Ah, another critic/"unbiased journalist" - do people who go to the shows even care? We all have a different experience, without the obligation of trying to sound tough. Whatever he has to do to get paid, I wish him well

There's one infamous scene (from circa '66, so I don't remember if that's part one or two) where the actor playing Mike's glue-on beard is peeling off during a scene, and they just left it in.
I haven't seen the film in ages, so I don't recall this scene. But a high-quality screenshot needs to be taken of this; this could be meme gold. My recollection is that it's a scene from circa 1967 or so where Mike is talking to his wife in a door way and the mustache and/or beard starts peeling off. If I'm recalling correctly, the actor can tell it's happening and tries to nonchalantly push it back on during the course of the conversation. Something to consider here that everyone seems to be missing. It could very well be that this scene is the most accurate in the entire 2 part trip to 'la toilette'...aka the 'movie'. This was a recreation of the time when Mike's beard and moustache rejected him. Similar thing happened to 'Tricky Dicky' only a few years later when he went in for an asshole transplant and the asshole quickly rejected him. sh*t happens. Thx, Lee. "Sh*t happens" as you said. Is anything else needed to be known about this cornucopia of crap? I remember people hiding it from Brian (protecting him) thru part of the series. When he actually saw it, he had a "so what" attitude because it was such ridiculous tripe. But in protecting his own interests, he did note what a load of manure it was.

I viewed it as a piece of humor and irony, and I think the writer is a master of both. I give these people poetic license and laughed a lot As far as Brian not being out front when it comes to presenting Christmas music(?) - he created the original Christmas album and a second one, so the idea that he might have less of a claim in this area seems pretty weak to me. Both Brian and Mike can do what they want. Whichever band you see, have a good time. I think your preferences in the style of performance are pretty clear. As far as a battle for people's hearts and minds on this subject, I'm about as serious as the author of the article. If I could travel, I'm pretty sure anyone would know my choice. I hope to hear some nice recordings.

Those are some really good questions and comments, HJ.
From band member conversations, I can say that yeah, he's just really tired of Pet Sounds. As far back as the first show of his I saw in 2000, he often would tear into hit songs or other up tempo material with more enthusiasm than the tricker PS songs.
I do think having him rest up offstage during the seven-song span from "Don't Worry Baby" to "Sail on Sailor" wouldn't be a bad idea, and you could add an instrumental like Pet Sounds in there. It would be one thing if Brian was playing and singing enthusiastic backgrounds, like he was on the C50 shows. While he does play keys now and then, I noticed that he wasn't single any backing vocals at all last night.
As for the Christmas album shows ... I think we should all stay tuned. They could be miraculous or the opposite.
Here's my take as someone who was at the show (who can't travel, but my wonderful guest from out-of-town has attended several on this tour), Brian is getting better and better both physically and vocally and I was impressed with how he performed. I didn't even notice his lack of interaction with the audience and I forget how important that is to people, since I'm used to his moods (as someone who was there during his worst time 78-81, other than the Landy period). Maybe that impacted my leaving the show feeling good about it - actually great in a certain sense. I think the physical therapist and his loving assistants, on top of the music and his amazing band, are quite healing for him. My guest commented that he's consistently improved in health and voice on this tour. I found it quite enjoyable after seeing many shows beginning in 1964. Brian's a strong fighter in addition to his talents, and has endured so much in life that might have taken many of us out of this world, so if this is what he wants now, it's fine with me. I feel this way particularly since the audience was so joyous, and my own back injury was helped by the music (I needed help out of the venue myself, but lasting that long was something of a miracle for me), so I suspect it works for him, too. However he wishes to continue with his career, I respect. People always have the choice to buy tickets or not. The audience was really enthused and happy, so I trust his judgment when it comes to these things. I understand the loving fans' concerns about him, and it's up to him. I obviously noticed that he wasn't particularly interested in singing the encores, but he did walk on and off for them (with assistance) - and then he killed it on Love & Mercy for the finale - friends and I have never seen him neglect that song, so maybe that was his plan. Thx, Clay for noting that it's his choice to tour. He's not being "forced" to do so in any way. I'm afraid I expressed a lot of anger in the past here toward a few people insisting on that idea (insulting my friends and Brian in the process), when I knew they were being fed crap propaganda from people with an agenda. One person claimed privately to me that they knew "too many to mention" in Brian's management for info (Um, that would be Brian, Melinda and Jean Sievers, who didn't speak with this person, so...) In any case, as long as Brian is happy and the fans enjoy the shows, it works for me. I'll bite my tongue this time if one of those "in the know" people with "contacts" posts again. I've become much better at ignoring them, since no one around Brian gives a damn anymore about what they say, nor do I. If someone can remind me how, I'll try to post some nice photos. They're already up on www.BrianWilson.com's tour comments page and Ang Jones's FB page "Brian Wilson Tour," so someone better at downloading them and posting them here would probably do a better job, or I'd be happy to send the JPEGs. You have permission. Just let me know. My guess would be that since Brian is not only improving in health and voice, and he loves the Christmas songs, those of you going should get a treat. Such a great post, Deb. Thanks for sharing your incredible insight. You are a treasure! Thx so much, Billy and OSD - lotsa love on this board and it's great.

I was there last night for Rob's 2nd show with the band. I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed when the curtain went up & Matt was no where to be seen. But Rob grew on me as the show went on. He's very talented. Not quite as strong a falsetto as Matt, but pretty close. Thanks for the clip! I love Matt's falsetto as well, so I was a bit worried. The video of WIBN was reassuring. I'll see the band on 11/13. From what I've heard from others about Rob (haven't seen him perform or met him), he'll fit into this "nice people" band who are kind and generous to fans. I've only heard good things about his talent, too.

Well, the Wilson bros. sounded very much alike, which made for beautiful harmonies. Brian made a point of it, beautifully mimicking the others. I used to be better at knowing who was who - oddly, hearing their speaking voices regularly, but that was a long time ago and I lost that talent. At least it makes for good debates on message boards.

Thanks for sharing that! It's pretty noticeable that Brian is far more cooperative when the interviewer is a fan as well as a professional who can ask him questions that don't bore him. Of course, I'm sure there were good interviewers who just got him at the wrong time, but this is the perfect setup.
