The fade coming out of that Bop bop bop doo da loo work so well. I've never been able to figure out a good way to integrate the fade but that works brilliantly. Thank god we've lost the cross fade.
Yes. I am very impressed and SUPER EXCITED FOR MORE!

Where is Vega-tables? All I see is a link to the tongal site.  Huh

EDIT: Nevermind.  Undecided

There is a SMiLE link under the profile photo.

Wow! Both versions of "Sleep A Lot" and "I Know That You'll Feel Better"! I didn't see that coming! Yes! Fade to Vegetables!

I've just watched the promo video again, and felt that wonderful, excited feeling. I can't wait to hear this,.

Yes! I think I've watched it about three times and every time it gets the juices flowing (and no, I am not talking about jerking off, cochinos)!

I don't know about you but I am really looking forward to making an all-instrumental mix of Smile to (ahem) "relax" to.

Uuuurgh.  Man, you've just put me off ever listening to this set. I won't be able to out a disc on without that image now. Tainted.  Go wash your hands    Angry
LOL! That is how much I don't have a dirty mind! I never even thought it'd be construed as masturbating! Good one.

I don't know about you but I am really looking forward to making an all-instrumental mix of Smile to (ahem) "relax" to. I've always thought that the instrumental tracks were so original and moody. "Cabinessence"! OMG! I love listening to the "track only" version from the GV box set.

Same here. I never paid for a bootleg. I got into bootlegs in the late 90s so it was more common to trade instead of purchase. But because of those bootlegs I did purchase every official Beach Boys CD to date (except Summer in Paradise of course)!

YEA FOR BOOTS!
83  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: judging from the tracklist what will make u smile from the Smile Sessions on: September 17, 2011, 02:35:30 PM
Thanks for that but on what bootleg is "Barnshine" from?? Under which track?

It's on Secret Smile, disc 2, track 5. I believe it's called "The Old Master Painter/You Are My Sunshine (Part 2)"

Vegetables fade in super clear sound, & the Cabin Essence Tag Sessions too (Which to all of you who haven't heard it before on boots is breathtaking.

I think that the "Vegetables" fade from Unsurpassed Masters, Vol. 17 is pretty clear. IMHO of course. Unless you weren't talking about what is commonly referred to as "Fade to Vegetables".

I am really (REALLY) excited for good quality "Child is Father of the Man"! All the booted stuff from this song have been really poor quality... Vigotone is all hissy... Secret Smile is all compressy... and then Unsurpassed Masters has a different version! Yeah, "Child" is going to be marvelous!!

How dated so much of the Beatles later material sounds

Really? I always found the Beatles' later music to sound more contemporary and modern than their early stuff.

So what is everyone going to do on November 1?

1. Wake up at 8:00 am still wearing my Halloween costume. (I am dressing up as Cassandra from Wayne's World. My girlfriend is going to be Wayne and her sister is going to be Garth.)
2. Take off my costume, clean up, go to work. (Yup, still got work... I teach Astronomy Lab.)
3. Finish up my second class around 4:00 pm and run to my apartment! (I only live two blocks from campus.)
4. Check my mail (cross my fingers that I get it that day.)
5. Have my girlfriend come over (she wants to hear it!!)
6. Smoke.
7. Play disc 1.
8. Play disc 2.
9. etc.

Excellent quality bootlegged copies of the SMiLE book have been out there for years.

Where? I've been looking. Help please.

This is the best I've found: http://www.bootlegzone.com/album.php?name=C9949&section=14

Even better, excellent quality copies of all of the original Frank Holmes artwork have been available. Frank Holmes even signed the prints hisself!

I know about them, but I'm looking for digital scans.

Aren't they still on Tongal or are you talking about the booklet?

Yeah, the booklet.

The "untitled instrumental" is a Friends outtake entitled "New Song", recorded 3/26/68.

Thanks so much for this information!! Love this board!

Oh, no no no I mean the one with the rougher vocal... the "Alternate Version" but idk

Yeah, the February 10 "cantina" version. I for one would kill for a stereo version of that!  Wink 2

Ditto.

I'm THINKING of making a Stereo heroes, but it's driving me crazy...

Been done.

If you're talking about the Hawthorne stereo version... I've never liked it. Too "modern" sounding. If that's a thing.  Cool
What does that mean? Does every remix done so far sound modern too?

Best I can explain is that stereo made in the 60s had a wider separation. The stereo mix in Hawthorn is very loud and things seem to be centered too much (in my opinion of course). But it's all biased. I listen to a lot of 60s music so I prefer that was of mixing. That being said, I don't like the bass and drum being tossed to the left or right channel very extreme like some Beatles stereo tracks. So my taste it not steadfast by any means.  3D
Then you must really dislike the 2-fers. They are all louder and brighter, though that brightness helps the vocals stand out. The two TSS tracks (H&V & GV) are very bright.

Yeah, not a fan of the 2001 remasters. I prefer the 1990 cds

GV was a landmark record and deserves canonization.

True. If no representation of "Good Vibrations" had come out this set I'd be one throwing stones saying, "Hey! Where's the love for 'Good Vibrations'?"
96  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: SMiLE Box tracklist!!!!!!!! on: September 12, 2011, 03:36:35 PM
It might be just me but I would have preferred less "Good Vibrations" sessions and more core-SMiLE sessions. Or possibly the full Psychedelic (Psycodelic) Sounds conversations. I am only saying this because "Good Vibrations" was complete and we've already gotten stereo sessions with the CD-single. Just a minor grip. AH! I want this in my hands already! (That's what she said.) Roll Eyes

Side note: No "Untitled Instrumental"? Has that already been confirmed as a non-SMiLE track?
97  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys on the pedal steel on: September 12, 2011, 03:24:25 PM
Very cool. I would love a pedal steel Pet Sounds tribute record.

That would be very, very boss.  Grin

I've been waiting for years for good quality photos from the booklet.
Then buy it.
I already pre-ordered. But I mean I don't have the equipment to scan them. I like making desktop wallpapers and stuff with photos.

Meh. I'm not so thrilled about this release. Especially with all the SMiLE buzz. I'll get it... eventually... if ever.
