I know you are all going to disagree with me but I think changing the name to The Beach would actually have eventually legitimized the later albums legacies rather than harmed them. Sunflower by The Beach.. man that's would have been so awesome.

Wow that's amazing. I genuinly think changing the name to "The Beach" would have been a brilliant, career defining move. The connotation and imagery of "The Beach" is so heavy. 

This is all so, so weird. I can't think of another band who have fans who, if not hate, strongly dislike a core member of said band.

Are there Who fans who despise Roger Daltry? Led Zepplin fans who loathe Robert Plant? And even as controversial as she's been, can you still be a Supremes' fan and hate Diana Ross?

I think it sucks really bad. The songwriting is unmemorable. The guest stars suck, especially the Cap Cities dude and the .Fun guy is just the worst. Production is uninspired.

Mike's HOF speech was not some well thought out masterpiece to show the R and R world how important the BB were. It was a guy having way too much to drink and shooting his mouth off. We all have probably been there ourselves or been witness to someone else doing it.  When people try to defend it, it is an example of how this board has too many extremists.

But isn't that what Rock and Rollers are supposed to do? Be drunk, high, talk smack, be obnoxious, etc.? Had what Mike said came out of the mouth of Keith Richards, no one would bat an eye.

This is complete bs, also Keith DOESN'T act that way because he's cool enough to know not to.

BTW it's OK to call out assholes for being assholes. Even Ringo "peace and love" Starr has expressed his distaste for Mike.

Of the officially released versions, Surf's Up from TSS is my favorite.

However my all time favorite version is the bruiteaur mix of the 1966 recording with the 2004 BWPS version.

I'm guessing nobody talks about how weird it is because Dennis - just like a certain brother of his - is beyond critism in many people's eyes.

Or because if one were to believe another BB member's side of the story, Shawn's father was not in fact that BB member, which if an accurate claim would then invalidate that aspect of the relationship from being weird, right?

It would still be weird because the paternity issue was public and well known (i.e. Mike had gone thorugh it), thus making the relationship look like a stab at Mike Love whatever the truth about Shawn's claim was.

Autotune: once someone denies paternity, publicly/privately or both, how exactly does this become a "stab" at the person who says they are not the father? That person is saying the child is not theirs. Was Denny not to take Mike at his word? Wouldn't it only be a stab if Mike acknowledged he was (or probably was) the father?
