Yes to wrinkled mouth, a definite no to AC Slater chair posturing.  LOL

Still stuck in this situation. Anyone interested for £35 + P&P?

Thanks Avan. Things have got worse still but at least I won't be wasting time on a dead end. Do appreciate the info.

Desperation. Will take £110.

Something about 15BO doesn't click with me, although I love For Once In My Life and It's OK and a couple of others. The oldies and the Love You-type fuzzy production just don't suit each other. I don't think there's an out and out stinker on there really, but it just doesn't coalesce as a whole. Not a satisfying listen if you play the whole thing. The tracks on their own are better suited to adding to your own playlists.

MIU I don't care for at all. Possibly even my least played of the main studio albums - but that's only because I dip into SIP once a year because the sadist in me loves a good horror show - to whit, no it can not be salvaged.
6  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Brian signed coloured 7" single for urgent sale. Ltd edition of 150 on: February 09, 2018, 02:43:55 AM
Hi folks, I'm sorry to the mods and everyone for doing this here but I need to shift this urgently for some truly crappy money woes (rent overdue, health, car, can't afford wedding etc.)

I hope you'll be understanding because this is a BB fan at rock bottom with basically nothing left to sell but this cherished item. I'll be eternally thankful if this doesn't get moved or deleted. I'm not eBaying it essentially because I'm hoping to sell it today, ideally and it was a snap decision brought on by desperation that's leading me to part with it anyway.

Signed Midnight's Another Day limited edition (numbered, 150 copies only, transcluscent blue vinyl). Cover is signed at the top above the title by Brian. Oh, and the B-side is Morning Beat. Stamped 'BrianWilson.com exclusive' and seems to be hand numbered 88/150. £150 o.n.o. including regitered post to anywhere in the world. Very good condition, only played once (because I already had the album and just wanted to see if anything was different. Not to my ears, other than the fade out on Midnight).

Anyone who is interested can PM and I will be happy to provide a photo of the item with a slip of paper on it with your username or some other identifying phrase etc. so you can see that I have the item in hand and haven't just cribbed someone else's photo or whatnot. Someone must want something this rare, I hope. 150. In the world. Signed. If I have to part with it at least I know on here its likely to go to a true fan who appreciates it rather than some charlatan reseller.

Thanks for your time. Pray for old elnombre.

I edited it out. This wasn't the place for me to return the swipes he has taken at me, and I apologize.

Fair enough, remove my quote of it too if you want to.

I don't even know any such thing about AJD, but that is beyond a classless comment.

Perhaps the final nail in the coffin for the Beach Boys legacy. Mike Love should have the BB name taken away in an emergency BRI meeting.
And Mike looks like a grizzled old man. Time to retire!

Yeah, God forbid a 76 year old look like an old man. He IS an old man and has every right to look like one, or does that tax your brain cell too much? Of all the things to criticise, seriously? Did Brian look like a grizzled old man when he fell on his ass too? I'll bet you were right there chortling "Ahahahaha silly fat old fool with mental health problems ahahahahaha he doesn't look like he did when he was in his 20s does he? Fnarr Fnarr." You're an asshole. I'm sick of this forum, f*** this place if the mods let just flat out abuse of the elderly for being old pass as a post. We can't all die young and pretty, sorry. Go heckle a cripple.

"Brian is overweight and out of shape." -Mike Love recently about Brian Wilson.

Yeah, God forbid a 75 year old man be at Olympic level fitness. He IS an old man and has every right to feel and look like one...or does this simple logic tax Mike's brain cells too much? Of all the things to criticize, seriously? Did Mike look like a perfect symbol of health when he fasted himself into a mental hospital in the 60s?...

Two wrongs make a right. Gotcha.

Since when the f*** am I aligned with Mike? Read my post history. Hey get your brain around this - when it comes to mocking old folks for their appearance, maybe I'm just against in general? Radical, huh?

If they survived Summer Of Love on Baywatch I'm pretty sure this forgettable bit of fluff won't be the final nail in anything. They did an oldie, the crowd danced around, some guy shouted 'do it' and tried to get the crowd geed up. Boom, it popped, burst and like a mediocre firework, nobody will remember it in the morning.
12  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: New Mike Single on: July 04, 2017, 06:55:23 PM
Literally, this is emblematic of a sickness. The shooting-yourself-in-the-foot kind. How many chances does Mike have left to gain respect have that he keeps squandering?
...
Seriously, this is some bizzarre pathological sh*t which I cannot wrap my head around.  Someone could write a psychological college thesis paper on this behavior, of  why this particular song would be released at this exact moment in time.

Baffling.

Self sabotage. How many times have Mike's solo albums been shelved? Does he think he's going to entice a record company or get respectable sales/plays with this or Santa's Going To Kokomo? There were so many other options. Put out Pisces Brothers or something, it's certainly not as bad as this. Or actually be proud of Sunshine Tomorrow, do an interesting remake of one of those tracks as a single then you have an excuse to play a relatively obscure (though tied to an acclaimed 'new' Beach Boys release) at tonight's concert. Great promo for the old band, the current band and for Mike as a solo artist.

No, Do It Ad Nauseam with Stamos and some other has-been. Nice one.
13  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: New Mike Single on: July 04, 2017, 04:40:03 AM

Okay, thanks, EN. I'm not on Spotify but that's my problem...

And you're involved with the Samaritans? Or is that a swipe at Mike's single?!

It was a joke at the quality of the single. Ill-conceived and a bit tasteless that (depression sufferer myself, being a bit glib), I apologise.

Anyway JK, it's also on Deezer if you have access to that or in case you've not used Spotify, you can just log right in with your Facebook details if you have some and stream away. No money or card details needed, worst you'll have to do is listen to an advert first. It'd be step 1: log in to spotify.com through facebook, step 2: scroll to the bottom of the page and click on web player under where it says Useful Links and step 3: type Mike Love Do It Again into the search bar and you should be greeted with the disconcerting baseball-capped visage of the man himself.

The hell with this.  I just wanna hear that "Britney Spears'" styled version of "Surfin'" they allegedly recorded back in the late 90's.

Huh?!!!!!!

ok, you're joking, right? Don't make fun of me, you couldn't put it past them!
16  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: New Mike Single on: July 03, 2017, 11:12:59 PM
you've got all that great musicianship collectively, and no one had the
guts to say, 'that F'n sucks ass man'?

This. So much of this forever and ever. The pained cry of the music fan to the musician. You know this is bollocks. Why. Why. WHY?!
17  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: New Mike Single on: July 03, 2017, 10:22:58 PM
Imagine if all of the boys were alive but that bit beyond performing anymore. You put out something like Sunshine Tomorrow then along comes your cousin who apparently has a scat fetish and a viscerally violent reaction to quality music.

I actually like Mike but bloody hell does he make it hard to sometimes. You can settle a lot of your differences with him as a fan by thinking 'well, he's the one with the commercial head, he's the one who courts hits and popularity' but I mean, who is this going to be a hit with? Senile dementia patients who've forgotten they already have a dozen versions of the song they've bought in recent years and who's hearing is failing so they keep accepting shittier and shittier versions of it?
18  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: New Mike Single on: July 03, 2017, 09:42:31 PM
Never mind the autotune for now...DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! Oh, FEELS GOOD!

What the serious f*** is this?

Haha, I was just about to say the same thing. Sounds like Stamos to me. Just what the song always needed, huh? Maybe someone on the other side of him was telling somebody not to drive because they were too drunk. "Do it, do it! Yeah! HUnh!"

Anyway who really gives a sh*t. It'll be forgotten in 2 weeks along with NASCAR and Santa's Going To Do Some Blow.

Just keep repeating to yourself SUNSHINE TOMORROW. SUNSHINE TOMORROW. SUNSHINE TOMORROW. There. Better.

It is sad that Mike must just throw his hands up and go, 'sure' at any opportunity. I mean who is this for? Is this......is this for us?! Does he think we want this? Does he think a super casual fan will go 'hey, I love that one Beach Boys song 'Do It Again'' and will go on Spotify and THIS will be the version they listen to? Do It Again...and Again....And Again...And....hey, isn't doing this and expecting different results the dictionary definition of insanity? Sweet insanity.

f*** me this is awful. I'm actually listening. Ugh. Lordy. Beautiful new archival release out showcasing TBB as a band to be taken seriously and this steaming sweaty thrice regurgitated turd has to be laid over the top of it.

Mike, it's time for a bit of an intervention mate. Wearing your own band's merch is naff enough but when it comes to solo....? You look like your mam was scared one of the school bullies would nick your hat so she stitched your name into it and got a bit carried away cause of her needlepoint class.

Here's a bit of a poser for everyone - what would it take for Mike Love to accept that the Beach Boys fanbase don't actually like John Stamos. At all? He's barely even famous anymore. At this point it'd be like if Paul McCartney wheeled out Tony Danza and expected a reception that would bring the roof in while he let him sing lead on one of George's cuts.

I just accidentally heard the version of Forever from this and it pissed me off even more than it did years ago. What a fucking travesty. I'm embarrassed that someone I admire as much as Carl agreed to have anything to do with it.
20  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The Beach Boys Wild Honey(Sunshine Tomorrow) 2CD Set? on: May 19, 2017, 09:43:18 PM
Count me in. This is exactly the kind of archival release that needs to be getting out there.
21  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Meeting Brian & Al vs Mike & Bruce on: May 19, 2017, 09:40:23 PM
I had a nice moment with Brian when I was on the front row of a show in Holland. He kept pointing at me and my then gf dancing and smiling at us or giving a thumbs up. Amazing to see the guy who'd given me so much enjoyment enjoying us enjoying him. Never met him though. Did know Taylor for a while - she was an absolute sweetheart.

I've met Bruce, Mike and David. All nice guys. Bruce very clearly the experienced glad-handler - he's done it a thousand times before and his anecdotes are well worn but he was nice. Mike seemed jetlagged to f*** and was extremely quiet - I don't recall if he said much of anything - but gamely posed for photos and so on. David I didn't really get much chance to speak to, but he's certainly a smiley dude who's abundantly happy to be there when he is.
22  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike's Book Discussion Thread (and how it relates to the SS board) on: October 10, 2016, 01:33:37 AM
Another well deserved and glowing endorsement I'm sure.  One day I will read it...when it's available at my local library.  I'm not giving that dink any of my money ever again.

Intriguing! A Beach Boys fan who's vowing to never buy any Beach Boys releases or products ever again.

24  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike Love’s 2016 solo project on: May 11, 2016, 08:37:03 PM
With all due respect to them, surely there are producers younger than Michael Lloyd and Joe Thomas dying to work with Brian and Mike and the BBs.

You mean Brian , myKe and Al, right? As far as I know, they're the only surviving BBs.

Some surviving BBs may be surprised to hear they are deceased, but close enough I guess.

And the *other* surviving BBs would be...   Huh

David and Bruce I would say, others might argue Ricky and Blondey.

Or Stamos.

Ones with shares and votes. And don't  even be tempted to categorize StaymoHs as a BB.  Roll Eyes

Nobody did.
25  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson 2016 Tour Thread (Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary Tour) on: January 25, 2016, 08:11:33 AM
Will try to save for the Manchester show. Fingers crossed there'll still be good tix in a few weeks.

It's a shame the Leeds show from last year wasn't rescheduled but the trip will be worth it for a much nicer and smaller venue.
