BTW, Google's alert algorithm called my attention to the Boston Herald write-up. So it's like the leading "Beach Boys" news story of the moment. Very nice! And, yes, weird that the photo editor decided to go with a pic of Mike Love and crew. Perhaps an omen that the Mike-Murry collaboration "By His Side: When Jesus Calls His Soldiers" will resurface in time for Volume 2?? You have no idea how much I would like to record that. Hell, I'll hire a full gospel choir. I may have said it before, but there are at least 6 more Murry songs being held by a variety of (living) folks ready to be recorded if they ever decide to share. Let's hope they don't die with them.

Rocker: I saw someone mention that Dennis had something to do with a song called Run River Run. I have no proof. But, during my research for the Murry album, Alan told me this: "There are a couple of other tapes from The Snow era, 2'' 16 track, "artist unknown" but the client is designated as "Bri-Mur," which makes me think this might be associated with another project of Murry's. The date on the first tape is 10/2/70, and the titles are RUN RIVER RUN and WIND RIDER." This could possibly be a connection.
The copyright.gov Virtual Card Catalog has the following copyright records: RUN, RIVER, RUN; w & m Bill Granstaff. 2 p. © Bri-Mur Pub. Co.; 28Oct70; EU214207. WIND RIDER; w & m Bill Granstaff. 2 p. © Bri-Mur Pub. Co.; 31Dec70; EU223513. Perhaps the tapes are Mr. Granstaff’s songwriting demos? Must be!

Bands make very, very little from streaming.
There's more to it than just the profit made from streaming, it gives the band a platform to spread further. As much as I'm not a streaming focussed person, it's a lot easier to recommend something to a friend when they can access it right away. Also, any money is better than no money... A band like the Wondermints might make $5-$10 a month tops on Spotify. It's not worth it, as hosting and distributing costs about the same. There's zero profit.

Streaming is where the music industry is heading, and the Wondermints albums are sadly not available on Spotify (I'm not sure about other platforms though). This adds further to the rarity/mystique of the music, though I wish it wasn't so and I could stream them, and Jon Brion's Meaningless, and more of Jason Falkner's stuff, and Umajets, and a bunch of other 90s-00s power pop albums that are strangely not available to stream as of yet.
Any artist or label that chooses not to stream via Spotify or similar service is an artist that has decided they don't want to give their work away for free. If the album contains covers, they have decided they don't want to pay licensing fees on top of giving the music away for free (distributing at a net loss). Wondermints might have some records in that second category IMO.

Thanks, Matt. I've made a sh*t ton of records in my lifetime and this one was the most fun, hands down. As available copies for sale dwindle (halfway there), I am stuck with 200 extra jackets I have to figure out what to do with though. I'm not printing more vinyl, so need a different solution.

Michael Shelley just gave So Much In Love a spin on 'FMU, I was wondering if he'd be playing some cuts from the album today.
Damn, I missed the Shelley show on WFMU. Was at the post office shipping about 100 copies (thank you all. seriously). He's a great guy.

Congrats Junkstar on a super project, I know there are fees involved (but bump up the price to cover those) so how about listing it on Discogs ?
Rob: It's now on Discogs (for the US). FYI, two more days at the pre-sale price ($18), then it bumps up to $22 on Friday.

I just wrote to them. Thanks. Let's see what they say. I have less than 200 copies left (pre-orders have been strong), so maybe they will bite.
Edit: I also just wrote to the Pet Sounds Shop in the UK. Maybe that could be a solution.

Thank you all for buying. As you can imagine, this thing cost a fortune, and to get back some of the investment means a lot to me.
Peadar: HHV declined to carry a few copies. I'll try another Berlin shop. I really love 'The Record Store' so will ask them.

Hey, this is a very cool project. Congrats.
Enjoyed your take on "For You and Me." Such a campy, pro-military ditty. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but interesting nonetheless...
Finding For You And Me was a huge moment in the project. I'd been looking for it for a couple of years, not even knowing Murry had cut it as a demo. Twice. On acetate. Of all the songs, that one was a lot of fun to record, if not the most fun. Great band too with J Walter Hawkes and Daria Grace.
