There is little doubt that there are no greater recordings in the history of mankind than the following... Sail On, Sailor You Need A Mess of Help to Stand Alone (I'm serious) Wouldn't It Be Nice Little Bird This Whole World
That is all...
There is no reason to be ashamed about YNAMOHTSA! The "She don't know" parts are so unlike beach boys, in a positive way! Especially Carl's "cookie monster" lead vocal! One of the most "un-Beach Boys" Beach Boys tracks, but certainly one of the biggest highlights of the CatP album!

All the worst possible things happened at the worst possible (and most important) time for the group it seems. Kicking off their next big tour in '68 (one that could have possibly helped the group recover from the Monterey dropout) with the Maharishi opening probably wasn't the best decision either (financially, commercially, AND critically speaking)...

Hell, even if they had just played "Little Deuce Coupe" ten times in a row, just being there would've helped the group surivive the late '60s to a much wider degree than they did IMO. If they had in fact played at the Monterey Pop Festival, does that mean that albums such as Friends and Sunflower would have topped the US charts instead of stalling under 100? Not exactly, but I still think playing at one of the most important counterculture events of the '60s would have helped to some degree!

Does anyone know how strict they are being about the meet and greet? I know he is only signing books, but I was wondering if I'd get in trouble for bringing a Pet Sounds cd and a sharpie to get a signature from Brian and or Al. Maybe if I'm just a kid they'll cut me some slack??? It wouldn't hurt to try! What would they do, confiscate your CD and kick you out? Listen, I got VIP tickets about a year ago when Brian was still doing personal signings. I considered bringing my vinyl copy of SMiLE to get Brian and Al to sign. But I decided not to at the last moment because I didn't want to hold it the entire concert. That is now my biggest regret in life. I could have gotten my most favorite album signed by my musical idol, but I chose not to because I was being lazy. This is the kind of thing that keeps you up at 2:00 in the morning! BUT I digress. Bottom line, yeah, bring the CD!

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Love You: Was It the Last Great Album of BB?

The last great BB's album could have been LA (Light Album) if it weren't for "Here Comes the Night". TWGMTR certainly has its moments (particularly the second half), but there are a few songs ("Shelter", "Beaches in Mind") that I've never even bothered with. So yes, I believe that Love You is the last "great" album by The Beach Boys. Thanks for the great thread BTW, I had fun participating in it when I could!

Just listened to the remix today on Spotify. Overall, it's pretty damn different compared to what I'm used to! In my opinion though, the 2015 remix of "Strawberry Fields Forever" could have been done better. Some parts of it sounded kinda muddy compared to the other instruments, though that might just be due to Spotify's compression. The new stereo mix of Take 7 sounded amazing though!
Highlights for me would definitely be "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", "She's Leaving Home", "Within You Without You", and "Lovely Rita".

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The Beach Boys Wild Honey(Sunshine Tomorrow) 2CD Set?

To return to topic, if the version of H&V really is a live Hawaii REHEARSAL, then I would expect it to be different from the last track on the Live In London/Concert twofer... which was a 'real' live recording from one of the actual Hawaii concerts. And I wouldn't expect it to be the version with the Mike 'Nuclear Bomb' monologue, as that was from the STUDIO rehearsals at Heider's, back in LA...
The track's 4:45 long, so it might be the Heroes rehearsal track without the Mike 'Nuclear Bomb' monologue over it, and with the many recorded sections sequenced together. The 'Lei'd in Hawaii' Heroes rehearsal I've previously downloaded was a lo-fi outtake, like the ones for God Only Knows (rehearsal) on Endless Harmony. From what I've heard, it's unfinished unlike the GV and God Only Knows rehearsals. Maybe the isolated Mike 'Nuclear Bomb' monologue is a hidden track at the very end of the set? In all seriousness, I actually would be surprised if there wasn't a hidden track on the set. I wouldn't mind the projected H&V single w/I'm in Great Shape as a hidden track

Wow this is exciting! One question though-
Is there anything here which is truly unreleased? Have all these tracks featured on bootlegs in the past?
This was discussed a couple pages back, but there is indeed unheard material on this disc, including (but not limited to) "Honey Get Home", "Game of Love", "Lonely Days (Alternate)", "Untitled (Redwood)", "Hide Go Seek", "Mama Says (Session Highlights)", "All Day All Night", and the "extended" 1967 "Surf's Up" recording.

Hey man, welcome! My girlfriend and I met Brian last June in New Jersey. I was so anxious while waiting in the meet & greet line that when it came time for my picture with him, all I could muster out while standing behind him was "hey Brian". Unfortunately, I don't think I said it loud enough or whatever, because he didn't respond back. It's definitely tougher to talk to him if you're an introvert like I am!
To this day, I really do regret not bringing my Smile Sessions LP for him to sign, so if you do want him to sign something, even if you're unsure whether or not they'll allow personal signings, you should still definitely bring it. Getting to shake Al's hand after the concert made up for it though haha
