I really do love this project from Brian.

So what is the word on how it is being recorded?

Is it Brian playing multiple tracks on the piano? Sounds like more music than 2 hands can handle at once to my ears.

Man. That song really is a mess of chords isn't it? 

One of my favorite BB songs in the entire catalog. I don't get the hate-attention it receives. I love the imagery of two elderly ladies talking about a "great love" that had died along with 3 little girls skipping past and giggling about boys. It's beautiful "circle of life" stuff.

I've always the lyric as "Black moon and starts shine nightly" makes a kind of poetic sense... kind of... 

Considering SMiLE is what made me become a hardcore fan, they're both songs of that era to me.

This release of "Awake" is everything I always wished it would be. So beautiful. My jaw is on the floor.

Two initial thoughts and a question before I write my music column for likely publication Sept. 4.

1. What life-affirming music.
2. Beatles who?
3. I don't have the box at this point (listening via streaming) so I'd like to know who gets the credit this time for producing Susie Cincinnati. (The Beach Boys as on the single, Brian as on 15 Big Ones or Al as on Best of the Brother Years).
Kudos to all who worked on this box and bringing out the beautiful parts that were previously buried in the music.

How does a pre-order sell out?

If HMV was only receiving "x" amount of copies in their allotment from the supplier and sold managed to sell through all of those through preorders; result = SOLD OUT.

I know I'll probably get flack for this but "When Girls Get Together" is probably my favorite colab between Mike and Cousin Brian. I love the circle of life nature of the lyrics and the music is so joyous.

The question was "greatest" not your favourite - so you deserve what you get.

What makes something great can be subjective. For me if something is my favorite, it's great. So there.

I've never understood this whole phenomenon of pre-ordering. Is there some reason that's better than just trotting down to the record store on release day? Is there some danger all the copies will sell out the first day?
