That last paragraph, MBE, is hilarious.  LOL

As for Brian... He was one screwy duck.  Tongue

"Treeeeeeeeeeeees like meeeeeeeee weren't meant to liiiiiive" - Van Dyke.

"Oh Lord I lay me down" - Alan.

"......." - Brian.

I laughed at this one  LOL

That was good. LOL

Thanks AGD. I read an interview with Rieley saying that Brian had laid down a few takes... Too bad he never recorded them. Ah well.... *SIGH*

There is no way that is Al on wind chimes. I too vote for Carl and Brian (a little heavier on Carl, to my ears).
4930  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Ques. About A Day In The Life Of A Tree on: July 09, 2007, 12:03:55 PM
LOL  Well even if its Al, I still want to know if there is a version of Brian singing this.  Tongue

Did Brian ever record vocals for the song (besides the bit he's on at the end)? I like Jack Rieley's vocals on there but I was wondering if there was an alternate version of this floating around somewhere....  Huh

Mystery solved!!!!  LOL

Outsider = someone from outside the band.
Mike Love and Jack Reilly do not qualify, Mike being in the band, and Reilly being the band's MANAGER. Sheesh.

I think by band he meant anyone not "IN" the band. Was Brian Epstein "IN" the Beatles? Meh... I need a glass...  Razz
4936  Smiley Smile Stuff / Smiley Smile Reference Threads / Re: The Definitive Vocal Credits Thread... on: July 07, 2007, 07:21:47 AM
I think its like how every one assumes Paul sings the high part on "I wanna hold your haaaaaaand" at the end of each verse when its actually John.
4937  Smiley Smile Stuff / Smiley Smile Reference Threads / Re: The Definitive Vocal Credits Thread... on: July 06, 2007, 06:24:38 PM

4938  Smiley Smile Stuff / Smiley Smile Reference Threads / Re: The Definitive Vocal Credits Thread... on: July 06, 2007, 09:50:52 AM
Can we take a consensus -everyone reading this, listen to it three times and tell us what you think. Is it Carl or a soft-spoken Brian?

I have just finished listening to it 3 times and I still say its a soft spoken Brian.. It fits with the tone of how he sings the song. Its Brian. Brian. Brian. Brian.  Grin

The Beatles are #3 for me, behind the Beach Boys and John Denver.

Let me guess... Paul is your favorite Beatle right?  Wink

I really like the new number system John.

I had no idea that was Bruce on IGA/LDC. Why wasn't Brian on it? I guess Bruce had to be on it somewhere to justify his face on the album cover. Smiley Tongue

Instead of multiple ass-terisks, why not try...

[1]
[2]
[3]

... and so on.

I like that suggestion. It would really make it easier to read.

On "And Your Dreams Come True" I could swear I can hear Dennis.. especially at the end.

On the Today! I have nothing to add. Looks perfect to me.

Brian doesn't know what his own work is about?!

Umm...

I'm sure it's not the first time. Do you really think he knew what VDP's Smile lyrics were about?

Can you honestly say that Brian didn't feel the meaning of the words with every fiber of his being when he recorded SMiLE? I think there are as many meanings as people who listen to it and the interpretations are all as different as you can imagine. I have no doubt Brian had an idea of what he wanted the lyrics to mean. At least thats what I hear in the music he wrote and the performance he recorded (in 66-67).
4949  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: do you ever go back and forth.....or not on: July 01, 2007, 10:58:43 PM
... it's like he spilled out all of his pain onto vinyl -   and it's not just Pet Sounds - it's The Warmth of the Sun, The Lonely Sea, In my room,  'til I Die, Surf's up  etc.
I'm just glad that I get it - there are so many people out there who STILL think the BB/BW are silly, nothing deep there
just surf and car songs - Aren't we blessed - that we get it?   I know I am

I know what you mean, but I think yu are going alittle over the top with the pain being poured out onto vinyl thing.  :D The best stuff (IMO) Brian did were the songs that make you happy and glad to be alive... The songs that have a certain spiritual uplift to them. Kiss Me Baby, is one of many many many BB songs that does that for me. I love songs about forgiveness. Even if you removed the lyrics to Kiss Me Baby, you would still get that same feeling for unconditional love from the music.

I admit also, the only two Beatles albums that brought a tear to my eyes were Let It Be... Naked (Sorry John Stebbins, I think the production is so much better than what Phil did) and the new Love album. The ending of Love is so fabulous I get chills and a lump in my throat every time I hear it. Besides, for my money, In My Life is as great and emotionally poingant a song as any Brian ever did, me thinks.

Sorry. I will get them up this weekend for sure. I solemnly swear.  Shocked Smiley
