Why the hell do people feel the need to try and equate what the Beach Boys were doing in 1967-68 to the psychedelic bullmerda coming out of Northern California at the same time? Again, the issue of trying to justify fandom to so-called "hipper-than-thous".
Pretty much. That is what is so awesome about Brian is that he is so uniquely Brian. There should be no need to put what he and the boys were doing in a box. Whether that box be labeled "Surf Rock" or "Psychedlia" or "Acid Pop" or whatever. The same could be said for VDP. They were what they were. The important thing is what we get out of it as listeners.

i don't think we'll hear smiley smile vegetables session stuff, cause i seriously doubt smiley smile wind chimes or wonderful will be in there.
The slow "I know that you'll feel better ..." from Smiley Smile Vegetables is in BWPS, and Linett said that BWPS is serving as a blueprint. When was that bit recorded? I had no idea that wasn't from the SMiLE sessions.

I think the cover will likely be something drab with the appropriate SMiLE font, ala the Pet Sounds Sessions box set.
Let's keep in mind that the Pet Sounds Sessions and Smile Sessions boxes won't be the same shape. The PS box was, of course, a long rectangle (not a great shape on which to reproduce an LP cover). Because the Smile box will contain vinyl LPs, it will have to be a ~12"x12" square... the perfect shape for simply using the beloved 1967 Smile shop cover. Ooops. You're right. I wish they would just release a picture already with a tracklist so we can all move on and start drooling.

Things in life tend to be gradual rather than cut and dry. A person who gets divorced usually knows it's coming long before they announce it and they may even take measures to try and save it even if they believe it is doomed. I think SMiLE can be seen like that.
So Brian knew he was going to get a divorce, but he kept recording Smile because he thought that might save the marriage? LOL Something like that. But only as long as Marilyn doesn't mistake all those fan mail packages of Vega-tables for LSD. That might blow the whole thing!

I think he means that the words and melody were pre-May 1967. So it would be ashamed to just wash those away because there were never actually put to tape before then.
OK... the name of this release is The Smile Sessions, that is, sessions for the Smile album - care to explain how sessions from, say Surf's Up fit into this picture ? Suppose they did a 1974 Sessions project - would you include the 15BO version of "It's OK" ? I understand that. Really. Even the first time you posted that, I understood it. I was just saying I can see where buddhahat is coming from.
