Did Brian Wilson learn the bass guitar for the Beach Boys or did he know how to play before the band formed?

As I've heard it, Carl taught him the bass basics for the stage. Carl and Al played the bass in the studio.

Actually, Brian played bass a lot in the studio. He played bass on all of the songs on Surfin' Safari and Surfin' USA. He continued to play a healthy amount even until Summer Days when he played bass on Girl Don't Tell Me and Then I Kissed Her.

God, this pissed me off. It was such a mean spirited impression, and it didn't even sound like Brian. Besides talking out of the side of his mouth, nothing seemed like Brian.

I have one question myself: What is the most accepted symbol for a power chord or fifth chord? I've seen (for a C chord) C5, C(no 3) and C ind (as in indeterminate, neither major nor minor). Any ideas, folks? Then I can correct it, you see...  

I've usually seen it as C5.

I honestly think he's a great filmmaker. With his own footage, I believe he could make a great documentary. I might be alone, but I'd love to see him make an actual BBs documentary.

If they played the Trump inauguration, that would be a bigger screw-up than Summer Of Love.

Hypothetically---

If David and Bruce went out as The BBs, would that be acceptable?

Will the Beach Boys continue as a touring act after Mike retires? Will Jeff or Scott carry the torch? And when Mike decides to retire, will Bruce retire with him? It would be weird having a BBs band with no actual members...

It wouldn't surprise me that with BW's absence during he Surf's Up sessions, Bruce would've stepped up to the plate and maybe refined what Brian had arranged during the SMiLE sessions

I'll get a lot of hate for saying this, but I think MB band sounds better than Brian's. Sure, the Pet Sounds tracks don't have that Wall of Sound, but I'd say overall the vocals are more consistent. Brian has been doing his talky thing lately, which just doesn't do the PS material justice. Scott Totten sounds great on IWFTD. With that being said, seeing Brian play the BBs music is more spiritually rewarding, because it's such a miracle to see him up there on stage.

Mine would be The Beach Boys, no doubt about it. I don't think I could live without ever hearing GV or GOK again.
