Serious question, from the same seller, what's up with Brian Wilson and Mike Love guitar picks? Is it the sort of thing that each band member would get some to give to fans regardless if they actually use them??? I've seen a number of tours where *everybody* in the operation ends up with some guitar picks with their names. The main band guitarists, the other non-guitar playing band members, backing band members, sometimes even guitar techs and even roadies. It eventually becomes almost an existential question. Would have rather have a worn C50 guitar pick that was actually used, with Scott Totten's name on it, or a Mike Love pick that either wasn't used or was used by someone other than Mike? It seems funny that there has never been a "Mike Love" guitar pick. Pretty much everybody else has had there name on them, even back up band members who don't play guitar and certain guests (Pat Kelly).

In my opinion, Carl was a gentleman and a great talent right up to the end. I only wish that he was still around when the C50 came about. We would have heard some unbelievably beautiful things from him.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Beach Boys Through The Mail Autographs

Does anyone know the best current mailing address to get fan mail/autograph requests delivered to the individual Beach Boys through the mail? On the same topic, has anybody had any success through the mail in recent years? Back in the 1990s Carl did personally respond to an autograph request that I sent.

Anybody, besides me, going to the July 25th show?
I was about to ask if anyone was going to either of the last two summer shows. Please report setlist and other details! Anyone here going to the Canadian date on the 24th? Last shows of a tour can be special. Then again, Brian is playing aa show the night before in a different Country. He may be tired. In any event, I will file a report and note any special additions to the setlist. Unfortunately that show was announced AFTER I had bought my plane tickets. I'll be flying out 2 days beforehand That is a bummer! Atleast you caught them in Seattle. Welcome back ORR. Stick around. Enjoy having you here on the board. Welcome back! Thanks friends! Took me a while to "sober up". Luckily, I was accepted and treated at OSD's "The Dewey Weber Center for Alcohol and Gambling Addiction". Now if I just can get in and out of Brian's July 25th casino show without a relapse. Welcome back indeed! Shame casino's are such popular places for bands to play. Gambling is just awful. My complaint with casino shows is that they pretty much always make the band do a shorter show. The casinos are so greedy that can't even let you enjoy the show that you bought a high priced ticket to before they try and rush you back in to the gambling arena.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Visiting Marina Del Rey

We are going to be visiting California this summer, and one of the stops will be Marina Del Rey. Does anyone know specifically where Dennis kept his boat and is it possible to visit the exact spot? I've never been to Marina Del Rey before, and I don't know what to expect.

That makes me sad. Maybe it'll be in her new album...
And/or perhaps an online single release. That would be nice, as an "alternate" way to hear the track. That would probably get Brian more genuinely "new" listeners than most of the other guest stars, if that's what they're looking for. But as I've mentioned before, if "Last Song" is even half as epic and meaningful as they've been making it sound, I'd rather have an all-Brian version than a duet if I could only have one version. I agree completely. The one thing I was hoping for was a Brian only version of "Last Song". If it's anything close to "Summer's Gone", it'll be a masterpiece!

There is one other kind of sad note that you can hear on the audience recording of the Devore, CA August 1997 show. I think it's about mid way through the show when Carl says "I was just saying to Mike(Meros) that it sure has been a great summer". You can feel the emotion in his voice. I think Carl truly felt things were coming to an end.
