76  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: BB members attending BB (or BB solo) shows without participating on: September 21, 2015, 05:31:24 PM
I wonder how many people in the audience realized that it was really Brian at the side of the stage.

A must have for any collection:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/310668609143

Serious question, from the same seller, what's up with Brian Wilson and Mike Love guitar picks? Is it the sort of thing that each band member would get some to give to fans regardless if they actually use them???

I've seen a number of tours where *everybody* in the operation ends up with some guitar picks with their names. The main band guitarists, the other non-guitar playing band members, backing band members, sometimes even guitar techs and even roadies.

It eventually becomes almost an existential question. Would have rather have a worn C50 guitar pick that was actually used, with Scott Totten's name on it, or a Mike Love pick that either wasn't used or was used by someone other than Mike?

It seems funny that there has never been a "Mike Love" guitar pick.  Pretty much everybody else has had there name on them, even back up band members who don't play guitar and certain guests (Pat Kelly).

In my opinion, Carl was a gentleman and a great talent right up to the end.  I only wish that he was still around when the C50 came about.  We would have heard some unbelievably beautiful things from him.
79  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Jeff covers of BB songs on: September 01, 2015, 10:54:26 PM
I'm sorry, but in my opinion, Jeff can not come anywhere close to what vintage Brian Wilson sounds like.  I truly don't know why he is always put up on a pedestal?  Jeff is a decent cover at best.

I'd f**king love to see the Temptations, you ingrates!  LOL

Are there actually any original Temptations still touring?
81  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Beach Boys Through The Mail Autographs on: August 04, 2015, 05:47:31 PM
Does anyone know the best current mailing address to get fan mail/autograph requests delivered to the individual Beach Boys through the mail?  On the same topic, has anybody had any success through the mail in recent years?  Back in the 1990s Carl did personally respond to an autograph request that I sent.

Whatever happened to Dennis' boat The Harmony?  Does it still exist?

This is absolutely ridiculous!
84  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian / Al / Blondie Summer 2015 Tour Thread on: July 19, 2015, 02:14:17 PM
Anybody, besides me, going to the July 25th show?

I was about to ask if anyone was going to either of the last two summer shows. Please report setlist and other details!

Anyone here going to the Canadian date on the 24th?

Last shows of a tour can be special. Then again, Brian is playing aa show the night before in a different Country. He may be tired.

In any event, I will file a report and note any special additions to the setlist.

Unfortunately that show was announced AFTER I had bought my plane tickets. I'll be flying out 2 days beforehand  Sad
That is a bummer! Atleast you caught them in Seattle.

Welcome back ORR. Stick around. Enjoy having you here on the board.
Welcome back! Cool
Thanks friends!

Took me a while to "sober up". Luckily, I was accepted and treated at OSD's "The Dewey Weber Center for Alcohol and Gambling Addiction". Now if I just can get in and out of Brian's July 25th casino show without a relapse.  Tongue

Welcome back indeed!

Shame casino's are such popular places for bands to play. Gambling is just awful.

My complaint with casino shows is that they pretty much always make the band do a shorter show.  The casinos are so greedy that can't even let you enjoy the show that you bought a high priced ticket to before they try and rush you back in to the gambling arena.

Mike's web page does not show any VIP links for the summer 2015 tour.  Are they done selling these packages?
86  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Carl's last performance - God Only Knows on: June 11, 2015, 11:21:58 AM
Even after all these years, this never fails to amaze me.  Carl was so sick, but he still sang as beautifully as ever.  He is greatly missed.
87  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / The Beach Boys (Mike & Bruce) 2015 VIP Packages on: June 02, 2015, 10:16:23 AM
Does anyone know if Meet & Greet/Soundcheck VIP packages are going to be sold for the US summer 2015 tour?  There is no mention of any beyond the European dates.
88  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Visiting Marina Del Rey on: May 04, 2015, 01:20:24 PM
We are going to be visiting California this summer, and one of the stops will be Marina Del Rey.  Does anyone know specifically where Dennis kept his boat and is it possible to visit the exact spot?  I've never been to Marina Del Rey before, and I don't know what to expect.

I just tried to order one, and it looks like they're gone.

Any word on VIP/Meet And Greet packages?
93  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Love and Mercy - News and Reviews - First clip is out. on: February 25, 2015, 03:29:05 PM
It looks great.  But, I can't imagine how difficult it must be for Brian to watch this himself.
94  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Capitol to Release Brian Wilson's 'No Pier Pressure' April 7: press release on: January 31, 2015, 12:18:50 PM
Summer's Gone had an air of finality to it.  Would have been fitting as a last song.

It probably was the last Beach Boys song.

Sad, but probably true.
95  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Capitol to Release Brian Wilson's 'No Pier Pressure' April 7: press release on: January 29, 2015, 02:02:49 PM
That makes me sad. Maybe it'll be in her new album...

And/or perhaps an online single release. That would be nice, as an "alternate" way to hear the track. That would probably get Brian more genuinely "new" listeners than most of the other guest stars, if that's what they're looking for.

But as I've mentioned before, if "Last Song" is even half as epic and meaningful as they've been making it sound, I'd rather have an all-Brian version than a duet if I could only have one version.

I agree completely.  The one thing I was hoping for was a Brian only version of "Last Song".  If it's anything close to "Summer's Gone", it'll be a masterpiece!
96  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The BB's - Don't Worry Baby - Live 1995 (Brian Lead) on: November 08, 2014, 09:58:42 PM
Definitely sounds more like Matt and Brian to me. Can't really here Jeff if he's there.

I think Brian showed up for a couple of shows in 1995.
97  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike & Carl in Late 1997 Question/Discussion on: October 23, 2014, 07:47:36 AM
There is one other kind of sad note that you can hear on the audience recording of the Devore, CA August 1997 show.  I think it's about mid way through the show when Carl says "I was just saying to Mike(Meros) that it sure has been a great summer".  You can feel the emotion in his voice.  I think Carl truly felt things were coming to an end.
98  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike & Carl in Late 1997 Question/Discussion on: October 22, 2014, 01:17:53 PM
I thought it was said that Carl developed a blood clot, and had to leave the tour for health/medical reasons.
99  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike, Bruce and Dave @ Jones Beach - July 5th on: July 05, 2014, 10:13:30 PM
Can anyone give us more details on how the VIP experience/meet and greet went?

Here is something you don't find every day.  This is an insanely rare autographed Summer Days LP.  It is autographed on the back by "Mark R. Wilson".
