I wonder if the person who took this picture will be getting the box set It was you, and you will. I claim my $ 2.50. Not owning them, I can't be sure, but several of those items look as though they don't exist, which means this picture doesn't count. Towards what, I don't know. They all exist. I have them all. And now that the "real thing" is coming out we can get rid of all that "junk", right...

Haha, in-house fighting about a release date that none of us knows... bring on the carrots and beer...
Ha ha, right on!! I don't understand all the quarrel! It's as if the final "Smile" is getting released...!! Listen people: Smile was not released in the 60's - and NEVER WILL BE!!! It's just a "Smile sessions box"!! And most of us have heard most of the stuff already - haven't we??!! So please calm down and we'll see what the guys have in store for us... /B

If 9/20 is indeed the release date, then I would think that everything should be finalized 60 days out, so that production may begin for release.
The production and pressing and printing is all done! Now we just have to wait for somone to tell us everything has been destroyed!!!!! Won't get fooled again?

Thanks 37!ws for your elaboration. Unfortunately I don't have the whole show, and I cannot remember where I got that outtake from. But is an interesting version, better than both the SDSN version and the Imagination version, IMO. I would sure like to know what was on the reel that was handed over to Steve... "The alternative Imagination album" /B

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Brian's September sessions?

According to the BW board and AGD the Disney album is all done. Brian has cancelled some of the shows in September and is going into the studio - another Christmas tune perhaps? Or what? Any hints....? Speaking of sessions - I posted the 1-minute outtake of the "crispy" version of "Let him run wild" (as played on a radio show 1995-96), recorded some time around "Imagination" - but no-one seems to know anything about that version - or what else was recorded and not released...? AGD? /B

I would read the foder out of that!
Brilliant, what a great read that would be And thus begins earcandy's two-week long marathon of creating an entire Mike Love edition of a Rolling Stone magazine. For foder's sake don't encourage him ! For foder's sake don't encourage MIKE LOVE !

Anyone else think the backing vocals on this mix are ridiculously loud?
They're *too* loud, though. I mean it's an interesting listen, but if this is the mix intended for the best-they-can-do-with-what-they-have "album", then it's a tad disappointing. [/quote] Agree! Strange mix indeed. What if the box set comes out and we all go: "oh nooooo"...

What!!! You mean Brian recorded something fantastic, then re-recorded and released an inferior version? Unthinkable......
Well, apparently...

Guess I'll wait for the box set. Nothing really new here it seems... And meanwhile I'm listening to the 9-minute "Here comes the night" instrumental - with A LOT OF bass notes... Love the saxophone solo on that one - as well as the sax solo on "Goin on" w/the wonderful background. Some late 70's/early 80's high lights! Were those solos improvised - or did the boys write those parts?? Oh sorry to interrupt fellas, back to Smile... /B
