Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / New book: The Beach Boys by The Beach Boys

Does anyone have any information about this? It suddenly popped up on social media profiles of Al and others, I hadn't heard anything about it before. --> https://geni.us/beachboysbookNot much context is given. If this is supposed to be the grand official chronicles of the band, in their own words, with rare archive pictures, you'd expect a bit more fanfare (and murmurs beforehand). Apparently they have been extensive new interviews with the remaining Beach Boys.. does that mean someone talked to Mike, Bruce, and Al for a few days, and then asked if Brian has something to add, to which Brian replied: "Huh?". It would be nice to know some more about this project. If it's not just a quick cash grab... Or did Al simply jump the gun again? (Also, where are Dave, Blondie, and Ricky? They are/were Beach Boys too...) Their only official book, The Beach Boys by The Beach Boys is the ultimate chronicle of one of the world’s greatest bands. Through their unique sound, complex harmonies, sensational live shows and use of innovative recording techniques, The Beach Boys became woven into the cultural fabric of America and influenced generations of musicians globally. This book documents how it happened. Order now at:

Anyone know why Nelson is not on this tour, and who is taking his place on percussion? Sorry if I missed the discussion
Guy named Jim Lasesa who knows Darian and the other band guys well. He’s on Facebook. Nelson isn’t on FB anymore; no idea what happened to him. Yeah, he's still playing his own shows though. He's doing his thing. PS. It's Jim Laspesa

I finally, FINALLY, ordered my KEEP IT CLEAN WITH AL JARDINE shirt for the Berlin show on August 16th. All thanks to Quzi's design way back in 2012! What would I give to talk to Al while wearing a "Keep it clean with Al Jardine"-shirt!! If it wasn't for my mother's birthday, I might had had the chance this year in Berlin, as Blondie and I have common friends and maybe I could've met some of the guys. It's a shame you're not gonna be there! If I get a reaction from Al (sitting front row!) you'll be the first to know!

Every single SmileySmiler should check out Jens Lekman's latest record Just did. I'm sure it's very good of its kind but it's not for me. Perhaps the words are too important. I did my best----sorry! Hey, that's okay "Thanks" for trying!

Enjoy the show, Lowbacca. They do a great show !
Thanks Well, it's been a couple of weeks since the Mike's Boys' Berlin show.. Busy schedule so I didn't have time to pop in and give my two cents. It was my first time with this configuration of the BBs, and I was pretty much at the front, right next to the stage. Damn expensive, too. Overall I enjoyed most of it, and I got my money's worth. I think. These guys are workhorses and war horses. And, once in a while, kitsch clowns. The star is still the music. Even though Stamos tried his best to make it about him and Mike every chance he got. Well, I knew he would. (No mention of Brian whatsoever, either. I thought that was weird. Is that 'normal'? Both Carl and Dennis got shout-outs.) It's Germany so "Kokomo", "California Dreamin'" and "Barbara Ann" got the biggest responses. I enjoyed all the Wild Honey tracks, everything with promiment Scott Totten vocals as well as the a capella "Their Hearts Were Full of Spring" (Bruce sounded fantastic). It was a nice night, with the best music in the universe played by capable musicians in a tight band. Having said that, I guess that's for me with Mike's Boys. Been there, done that. At least at these horrendous ticket prices. ____ Off to see Brian next, in a couple of weeks.
