With any luck, Brian might be using this time to be recording a new album. That way, he can add a new song or two to the act to promote it and it could be a win - win

Nicky does most bass vcls for Brian

..........and my suggestion derives from his great rendition of I I had a hammer with Richard Barone. That showed Al's voice to be wonderful folk "instrument"

Interesting reports, thanks. I think Al could use a Kingston Trio song, to illustrate direct influence ( not one that the BB did)....

.....and why not a NEW AJ song. Those "moves" could work wonders, I believe.

SurfRider hits the nail on the head. Easily the most plausible sequence of events and logical cause of confusion

I spotted camera crew last year....a friend on another board confirmed a documentary for US . Not heard anymore....but this would  be apt
83  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: California Music on: January 15, 2018, 12:23:28 PM
It was reported that way at the time.
84  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian at Hawthorne HS recently on: January 15, 2018, 08:52:31 AM
A documentary wasin prep last year, filming took place at a few gigs. This could easily be part of it

The melody is different !!   It is very good to my ears....
87  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: California Music on: January 08, 2018, 07:40:08 AM
Oops....via youtube...thats Terry on lead. Check the production though.......nearness to Male Ego   ( in a good way). Think I bought this arond early to mid 70s....on vinyl 45 at time of release
88  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: California Music on: January 08, 2018, 07:34:35 AM
Afraid I dont know much more......although tbey had recorded at one stage for Bruce and Terrys label, Equinox, released via CBS in UK I think. A Gloria Grinel sang on record with them for at least one tune . Curt sang lead on Jamaica Farewell.......sort akin to Sloop John B. Best thing in my opionion to search for is the song Brian W sang lead on.........think it was a very 4/ 4 version of Why do fools fall in Love. If I can check, shall do so. It is nice production....accordion an' all
89  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Bruce and Terry involvement on 2011 CD on: January 07, 2018, 02:24:10 PM
at first, CM was Bruce, Terry and Brian Wilson. Curt Boettcher joined and of course BW was out of the project

I would like more Bruce and Terry works......
91  Smiley Smile Stuff / The Beach Boys Media / Re: Beach Boys '65, Brian on the drums. on: December 27, 2017, 02:57:26 AM
Despite the comments describing the situation, it looks to me as if Al is on bass (look at the machine heads on his guitar, then Carl's ).....Al is sporting bass...
92  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: 2017 copyright extension release details? on: December 01, 2017, 11:26:43 AM
Thank you very much Mark. It was so disappointing last year not to be able to buy that. Keep up the good work !
93  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: 2017 copyright extension release details? on: December 01, 2017, 01:52:22 AM
Aye Mike, still waiting for Live in Michigan. It is both annoying and frustrating for UK not to be allowed to buy this. Even tried to import from USA....not permitted.
94  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Noel Gallagher hates Brian Wilson on: November 30, 2017, 03:10:10 PM
Well, I was trying to give him some credit for surviving in the business and having a few hits. No way it compares to Brian's lifelong career and huge catalogue of songs
95  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Noel Gallagher hates Brian Wilson on: November 30, 2017, 02:34:12 PM
Gallagher is a bad mannered, underachiever. No more than half a dozen decent tunes in his catalogue, he is barely competent to pass an opinion.
96  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: peter noone on: July 02, 2017, 03:43:00 AM
I spoke with Bruce at the time he was in the middle of producing Peter. Bruce was VERY enthusiastic and positive about what they were getting recorded. I cant recall the timing now....I think it was after Bruce's Equinox label...in fact, probably 1980 or so and CBS  is more likely.
97  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson - 2017 Tour Thread (Pet Sounds - The Final Performances) on: June 15, 2017, 12:41:00 PM
Be nice if some of the breaks meant a new album being recorded
98  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike Love \ on: June 10, 2017, 08:47:59 AM
In UK, Stamos did whole gigs. Hammed it up a few very annoying times but modtly I found myself wondering why John Cowsill was being underused . And Stamos presence meant the loss of some deeper cuts to accommodate some schlock around Be true to your school.
