152  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The great lost Dennis Wilson 1965 lead vocal. For what song? on: May 01, 2015, 11:40:38 AM
I read --- many (!!) years ago , that he was to take the lead on Help me Rhonda.  Cannot recall source.

The more I think about it, the more it seems wrong to leave this lineup to only touring. Those voices--the current blend--- really should be recording and releasing. Plenty of songwriters would welcome the present BB recording their stuff.  The licence really needs renegotiated......otherwise, the BB become an ever older/oldies band.

Firstly, any time I have heard Randell, I have thought highly of his playing and singing. Hopefully he has a good new gig somewhere.

Secondly, with the tenor/ falsetto capacities of Jeff, Scott and Ike, this is a band which should be heard.

Maybe that licence should be re negotiated. Shame to lose all that harmony to the ether.........

Simply---I like this CD a LOT.

It is cohesive and has a lot of quality. Brian sings very well throughout with some pleasant  surprises, too. Given the background, it is
as good as anyone had any right to expect. The consistency throughout is welcome. No need to apologise for anything. Plenty to enjoy. The extra tracks are perfectly valid--personally, I could not conceive of NOT having bought them. Most incredible is the moderrn direction Brian has taken........with "moments" to savour in particular  e.g the middle of Our kind of Love.
Best of all...it will grow and grow on me.

Jim, i have been impressed by your writings along the way. This summary proves you may well have written the book I have been waiting for most. At last, a real historical perspective in that fascinating period to add to Jon Stebbins work on David. Will make for the fullest picture.
159  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: NPP available on Spotify and itunes... on: April 07, 2015, 06:22:15 AM
Truly, the music business is going crazy---  i got a notification that NPP was on Spotify, a couple of hours before I intended buying the CD. Ignored the note.....went and ( happily) got great value purchase. Was able to listen last night to the music, from both sources. As a collector, I would not deviate from physical purchase. But , really, to have the album on Spotify ?!?!  Can imagine a LOT of people will bypass the "spending" part.

Bank holiday Monday---no news there.

Amazon could PREPARE and arrange so that releases land on release date. The date does not mean that is when they should start to handle it..

Holiday Huh?  I took positive action. Cancelled the Amazon £18.99  and walked in TODAY , bought in a real, live record shop for £12.99. De luxe.   If crtic had read my item , it referred to previous purchases, just as late.

Must say, am seriously unimpressed by their pre ordering at Amazon UK. Items not turning up on release dates....but three, four days later. Having made it practice since 1964 to get BB/BW releases on first day, I am lamenting record shops .......not for the first time. Anyone care to autograph my downloads....oh, wait.......

Bossa nova would be fine, esp since it seems to suit Brian's voice .

That is one great performance of Wild Honey. I want that on DVD. In U K , so no Soundsatge prog to see. Blondie-- indeed whole band-- cooks. One great , fat sound.

Once again, I find Ray Lawlor' s comments and explanations the best and most fascinating I have ever read on the subject of B W. Should have been a writer !!!

As far as I know, we are all just fans( apart from Honoured guests).  No one is Legendary. No one is mental midget nor any other other playground name. Brilliant site being ruined by self-aggrandisement and abuse.

Not gone back to listen but am fairly certain that Brian said that about the bread. Article is wrong-- one for all the compiler sticklers.
