Between the Buttons. I never listen to Between the Buttons--almost never the Stones at all, in fact, though I have been known to spin Exile a few times a year. One of those great albums that fits into the recent thread about whether we listen to the classics much ... and how I don't. (Speaking of frequent listening and not-classics, I've been loving the new Of Montreal, by the way.)
Oh, I like that one, it's got "Yesterday's Papers" on it, right?

In which case, would Blondie leave the Rolling Stones touring band and join the Beach Boys in a reunion?
Leave a more steady, well-paying gig to be treated more or less as a sideman/third-rate member with a volatile band who can't even agree on whether they want to do anything and is unlikely to do more than a couple of shows, tops, ever again? Why would he? So the half dozen message board enthusiasts around the world will cheer when he makes it more "authentic" (to those few years he had anything to do with this band with a five-decade life)? I think not. Well, we know that Al would like to do a major tour, but that still leaves out the other guys. Say for instance the Rolling Stones only tour one last time, that's of course two years on the road, but if the Beach Boys do a world tour, that would also be lucrative for Blondie. It depends how he feels about the Beach Boys gig and his role as a one time full member of the band. He's got no history with the Rolling Stones other than the last tour, I don't think.

Hey Googa, you ever hearda Figueroa? He played percussion and sometimes drums in the 70's when Dennis was too drunk or coked out to play. Kowalski had trouble keeping time - he out-stayed his welcome a few years.
Yes, I've heard of Bobby Figueroa. I'm not that well read on the live history of the band, but I find it odd that Kowalski could serve as long as he did, if, as you say, he wasn't that good a drummer. I just suggested him because I want the reunion to be as historic and authentic as possible.

I've read in the news that the reunion could be at least Brian, Mike, Al, Bruce and David, and that is as good as we can hope for, but if Blondie and Ricky could join as well, it would be perfect. I know Blondie is with the Rolling Stones and Ricky tours with Bonnie Raitt, but as the Rolling Stones are not likely to tour next year, I think the Beach Boys should ask Blondie to join. We need him to sing "Sail on Sailor" on stage, that song is a must. If Ricky can't drum, then perhaps Mike Kowalski.

The best way to advertise Brian's new album to the UK public would be to book him on the "Later.... With Jools Holland" show. This is the only really high profile music show on British TV that does not cater strictly to the Lady GaGa type crowd.
Has Brian never been on Jools Holland? I'm surprised, because he's featured such a broad range of artists on that show. I used to watch that show in '95-'96, and I think BBC Entertainment shows it in Europe.
