Please don’t judge me for how I spend my spare time, but I just looked up Rocky Pamplin on copyright.gov and found a record from 2014 of a copyrighted text entitled “Wipeout: Caught in the Undertow of America's Greatest Band” authored by Rocky. I found nothing when I Googled this but presumably this is a manuscript by Rocky about his time with The Beach Boys. Steve Love is also listed as as a rights holder. Very interested in seeing this come out if it isn’t in some form already.

An interesting find. Assuming it's the 2 CD Unplugged Party album, at current prices (14.88 for the regular issue, as opposed to 29.98 for the Amazon Exclusive) you'd be paying $15 for the 12" x 12" lithograph. But this item has a release date one week prior to the standard issue CD release date.

There’s now a picture up for the Amazon-exclusive package with the lithograph. Still says it’s coming out the 13th.

I enjoy the song. Not huge on the “Be My Baby” reference though. Did Phoenix ever say they were recording this?

The version of Barbarian, stripped of Party sounds, that appeared on Made in California might be seen as a clue to the up-coming November Party! Naked release… any other clues in that box, for other sets to come?

The stripped version of Barbara Ann first appeared on 2001’s Hawthorne, CA comp, so I suggest you look there first for any “clues.”

So no digital release?  If no, why?

It’ll have a digital release I’m sure, that’s just not up for pre-order yet!

Looks like we got a new archival release coming down the pipeline! 2 CD set and vinyl. From Capitol. Amazon currently says “This title will be released on November 20, 2015.”

We also have confirmation that he's working on the late 70s "Alone on Christmas Day" (and that Ron Altbach co-wrote it), and that it will be in the Bill Murray special. I'm a bit confused, as he describes a band called "Phoenix" having recently found the song on the internet and covering it. I'm assuming Mike brings that up because that may have been the impetus for him to remember the song and then go find out who co-wrote it with him.

Phoenix seem to be really big on the Beach Boys. They compiled a CD a few years back with the original version of Dennis’s “Lady” on it (http://www.amazon.com/Kitsune-Tabloid-Phoenix/dp/B001PMRKAA).

I just got back from seeing Mike and Bruce for the first time. Great show! I stuck around afterwards and got Bruce to sign a few things, including a copy of “Symphonic Sounds”. He saw it and seemed excited, saying, “You know we got the Royal Philharmonic on that?!” He said that he’s going to buy the master tapes for the album. When he said that I immediately thought that the folks here would get a kick out of knowing that Bruce apparently wants to reissue it

Picked up Deadman’s Curve on VHS the other day from a thrift store for a grand total of $0.35... Was looking at the cover and noticed a weird error! They mismatched the names to the heads. Does anyone know how common this issue of the VHS is?
