Hadn’t seen it mentioned here yet but thought it was worth bringing it up in case anyone wasn’t aware: there’s a new Stephen Kalinich album that was released sometime in the last year. Available only on CDBaby as far as I can tell (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/theworksofstephenjkalini). CDBaby says “A stellar collection of passionate spoken word performances paying tribute to the poetry of legendary Beach Boys collaborator Stephen J. Kalinich. Produced by Al Gomes, Alan Boyd and Stephen J. Kalinich.”

I don’t own A World of Peace Must Come but I imagine the last track hails from that project. Are any parts of it, like the session dialogue, previously unreleased?

I believe they should play the inauguration.  It may help to unite the American people.  As for all the little snowflakes on here, grow up.  You don't have to worry about the BB's musical legacy, that is set in stone...you also don't have to worry about the BBs "brand".  (worrying about a bunch of multi-millionaires' "brand"....who the hell thinks this way??).

Having genuine concerns about how the Beach Boys are perceived in culture does not make anyone a snowflake and I think discussing these concerns on a Beach Boys message board is valid. If you don’t know why some people are concerned about the Beach Boys’ brand, perhaps view it like an asset: a lot of people have hundreds or thousands of dollars as well as time and a sense of personal identity invested in the Beach Boys’ brand, which stands to be potentially devalued.

Considering everything that’s happened in the past year, feel like this could really go either way, which is scary. I don’t see this at all as good for the BBs’ brand—even just the news of the invite. They could easily become a punching bag on social media like Scott Baio. Plus, it really doesn’t help the bad rap Mike gets from people guessing his politics.

Surprised I didn’t see Mike plug this appearance on social media.

Update from the hell that is Rocky Pamplin’s Facebook page: He claims that he signed a publishing contract for his book and that he has booked an appearance on Ellen (yeah the f*** right). Apparently the book is due in two months? We’ll see. Apparently the movie adaption is coming along as well. Fantasy land.

Is "sloop New Audio" the actual out-of-the-box file name on the drive, and not a file name that was re-named by a fan?

Actually, there are two videos on the USB drive.  One is the "Sloop" video, the other is the 6 minute video that has been played at the beginning of every show on the 2016 tour.

Mike sings lead throughout.

I'll have to respectfully disagree on the robotic thing though Mr. Big Daddy. I don't hear robotic as much as I hear an older Mike who's voice just simply isn't as strong as it used to be, so it's a little wavery. However, I much prefer his vocal on these 2 songs to most of the vocals on the Baker material.

I guess I misspoke; Mike’s voice is natural sounding, but you can tell at points is being autotuned/processed/what have you. More noticeably on “Surfin’ USA.”

Are the re-recorded tracks the same as on the 1996 catch a wave promo CD that Mike released?

No, the re-records are pretty recent. Mike sounds somewhat robotic à la “Alone On Christmas Day” but in general very good. The recordings rock more and sound more full than the Baker recordings. And you can pick out Jeff and Bruce’s voices in the background.
