Hey Undercover.....just saw this ditty of a thread !!   nice !!   just a reminder....   41 days until Brian Wilson
52  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike Love \ on: August 19, 2016, 12:19:27 AM
Wouldn't Jeff Foskett have the info on what really goes on in Brian's life, to pass onto Mike Love.

I truly think this is one of the most overlooked points in the Beach Boys history over the last 24 mos.   Wasn't there some comments about Foskett basically being BW's caretaker on the road....ie...living in the same suite on the road each evening for the better part of 10 years Huh   None of us know what this "totally" entailed on a daily basis for Jeff.   Jeff decides to move on as BW wasn't touring enough in 2014 to pay the bills......and he makes the call to Mike (or was it the other way around Huh)   and he ends up in Mike's band.

We can go through a multitude of different scenarios...but in the end,
Mike is quoted as saying he made contact with Jeff...and after a meeting...decided to add Jeff to the ML band.

So to answer Urbanites question from above....my gut thinks Jeff has "some" info on Brian that he has shared....or he's using this "perceived" information to make himself look better to Mike....thus perpetuating the ML incessant interviews about "handlers and medication"

I dunno folks....but it seems to me we've given Jeff a pass on this move between the two bands ...and perceptually how he views the relationship between Bw/ML and how Ray Lawlor perceives the relationship.
53  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Coordination of BW and ML tour dates ?? on: August 16, 2016, 01:06:35 PM
So I been wondering over the past 5 to 10 years, how much coordination behind the scenes is there either between the tour managers of the 2 groups or might BRI be somehow involved coordinating the BW/ML tour schedules ?   ML has continued to tour his yearly 100+ schedule, especially since he upgraded his band with Scott coming on board.  BW has definitely increased his activity since 2011, in particular, the number of tours and frequency of dates on each tour. I'm a neophyte when it comes to managing a tour, tour promoters, and scheduling. etc.

So... BW is in Seattle on 10/8 playing the Paramount Theatre.  I bought tickets the first day they were offered to the public (4th row).  Now I see ML is in Seattle 34 days later on 11/12 at the SAME venue.  This seems really odd to me.  The bands also play Portland, Oregon concerts, though at different venues, nights prior and after the Seattle shows.

Always seemed to me the guys were always in different parts of the country where overkill/brand delusion wasn't a factor.   Just coincidence or is there more to the ML band being scheduled 34 days apart in the same cities/venues that meets the eye ?   Just wondering peoples thoughts as many of you are close to the bands and maybe have been involved as promoters in the past.
54  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Scott Bennett Releases Statement Regarding Oklahoma Incident on: May 10, 2016, 05:56:19 PM
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/former-brian-wilson-band-member-convicted-of-rape-20160509

"Mr. Bennett did not have sexual intercourse, let alone rape the woman who brought charges. This is a case of drunken misjudgment, that led to kissing and fondling in the lobby of a hotel," McMurray adds. "The investigator admitted to leaving critical statements supporting Mr. Bennett's innocence out of his report, including but certainly not limited to Mr. Bennett going to get help for the woman, leaving her briefly in the 7th floor hallway where she couldn’t remember her room number, and going in search of security. Mr. Bennett cooperated entirely with investigators, waived all rights, but was not asked to take a blood alcohol test, which would have provided the jury crucial evidence of his level of intoxication."

I couldn't find the thread for this in the General On Topic Discussion sub-forum for some reason...regardless, here is Scott's side of the story.

I'm still troubled by some of the timing of events....what time did the concert end...where did Scott drink post concert...the lobby scene....elevator scene.....hallway scene....his room for 35 minutes......then the 7th floor scene.   None of us have had the ability to have scene the hotel video, right ?  Did Scott go for help at the end or did he just leave her there on the 7th floor hallway?  Had the hotel already called the police ?  At some point this leads to the interrogations the next morning and the gathering of evidence.  Sad but always true, guilty is guilty.  Just a lot of unanswered questions and gut-wrenching feelings for all of us.

I remember seeing BW's group for the 2nd time in St. Charles Ill. in 2011 or 2012.  This was the town on the west side of Chicago where BW bought the home in 1998 and where his band was founded.  At the intermission I was bringing back 3 waters to my seats.  It was very crowded and hot in this old vaudeville theatre.  As I was going to turn into my 2 row seats, Scott came out the side door with his daughter to get her something to drink in the back.  Crowded as heck and he couldn't even take two steps.  I gave him one of my waters for his daughter.  He was very thankful and I said no problem, just glad to help.

I now think back to the beginning...BW with the Wondermints and the sound they produced in person. And now there seems to be a hole that's tough to patch.  Yeah Billy and Griffin are the back-ups but its not the same IMO.  People aren't perfect and we all have warts.  I pray for the victim as rape is as awful a crime that can be committed.  I also pray for Scott....hoping with all my hope this was only a one time incident.  Going to be a long 34 days till 6/14....especially if one is sitting in a cell.

55  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Extraordinarily disappointing news regarding Scott Bennett on: May 09, 2016, 11:35:46 AM
I just went back and re-read the docket sheet GV33 posted back on page 4 (I believe).  A lot has been said about the video evidence which obviously is damning, but look also at the actual trial itself.  It looks like the prosecutors had over 2 days of witnesses.  Guessing these would be hotel security people.....All the DNA stuff and the associated people....who knows, maybe the victim knew others at the hotel.  None of us are sure of the timing, but she obviously got help and some GREAT advice the next morning whether it be the hotel security staff, the police, or friends that allowed for the DNA to be collected.  Though it wasn't stopped real time by hotel security, it appears they did come to her aid at some point.

It also spoke of the court telling the Bennett NOT to have any contact with the defendant.  Not sure if this is normal protocol in a rape case, or sadly their may have been some communication between 12/14 and 4/16 and the judge maybe had to re-state this in the court record.  My gut just wrenches seeing him remanded over to the local authorities with no bail..

Time to go listen to Pet Sounds I guess.....
56  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Extraordinarily disappointing news regarding Scott Bennett on: May 08, 2016, 01:01:15 PM
Curious, was it the hotel security staff who called the police department ?  I imagine in a hotel this size, the security staff is monitoring a multitude of hotel  camera's just as they are also looking at the gaming tables.  Article mentions them in the elevator at 1am the morning of 12/5/14.  Then it mentions the police speaking with both Scott and the unnamed lady the next morning.  All just so sad on so many levels for all concerned.

Who knows where this goes in the hell lawsuits and lawyers.  Sad yes this couldn't be stopped real time by security.  Because the young lady doesn't recall the incident, I'm thankful that in 2014 we have this stuff is real time and apparently (though its unclear to me) the hotel called the local authorities.  Yes they did their job.....I'm just glad for her sake, they made the call.

Instead of bringing surf boards to the concert, how about a coffin with James Watt's name on it......probably have to be at least 45 to get this I suppose
58  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys Meet & Greets and contacting the touring band management on: April 27, 2016, 12:07:56 PM
Great question Marty...My only Meet and Greet was the C50 Cleveland show in June 2012.  Seems to me I received all the docs one week prior to the show. It was "Live Nation" I believe for the C50 tour.  The docs spoke of your timing issues.  Correct ID,  timing and where to get in line.  I do recall we couldn't get anything signed.  But at other shows I've been at, I have seen where people did get stuff signed.....Good Luck !
59  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike Love book out in September on: April 18, 2016, 10:33:08 AM
Tell me more about the C50 situation? I assumed it was participation as opposed to salaried for Al being a member of BRI.
So was it salaries for David, Al and Bruce? %'s for Mike and Brian?
Great question.....and the answer will say a lot about the BB's/BRI organizational "status and structure" from 1962 to C50.  Had Al been marginalized long before the 90's by the group ?  Thinking back, hasn't it been posted previously over the years here, that when Al returned to the band after the Dental school/David Marks situation, he wasn't a principal and did not receive that status until Bruce's time off from the band in the 70's ?
60  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson Live in Japan on: April 15, 2016, 09:07:12 AM
Great posts Woodstock....3x in 4 nights.  A lot of jealous people across the two ponds is my guess including myself at the top of the list.  Be safe going home and again, thank you for the commentaries.  So sad to think I still have to wait 6 months for the Seattle show on 10/8.

Looks to be far enough south of Osaka that it shouldn't affect this evenings show in Osaka.  Has anyone heard from Woodstock ??
62  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Heroes And Villains slideshow video on: April 05, 2016, 02:58:55 PM
Actually, I'm now wondering what the reaction to H&V would be if BW and VDP were in a room alone together seeing this.....spellbound
63  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Heroes And Villains slideshow video on: April 05, 2016, 02:56:48 PM
Great stuff Krablaw and a big time +1 To Master Painters comments.  I thought H&V was stunningly beautiful.

Guessing with all the spring/summer shows through the Midwest US over 50 years, they've dance dance dance"d" their way through a few tornado warnings.
Especially driving in a bus to the next gig.

Rocky.....back to my question about Al.  I haven't seen his name mentioned through 81 pages of the thread.  Your general thoughts about Al ??   and will he be mentioned in your book ??
68  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Rocky Pamplin book about The Beach Boys? on: March 23, 2016, 04:02:09 PM
Rocky.......time to take a deep inhale and relax a bit.....How was your relationship with Al jardine back when you were on the payroll.  I seem to recall Mr Daro saying what a kind gentle soul Al was back in the mid 60's.  How about some of your thoughts on Al and are there any Al discussions in your upcoming book ?

With both Debbie and Emily now posting on these threads, I firmly believe they have softened up the belligerent posts and nasty nasty nasty comments made by some of the Smiley Smilers.....which is all GOOD.  My ladies, keep posting and I'm speaking for all of us.   Dave

72  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: New Rolling Stone Article on: February 11, 2016, 03:04:52 PM
Well....from another angle.....folks the "Wilson" genes aren't the ones to be used for the next gene replacement surgery.  First lets focus on the Love's that we are aware of from BB's history.  Stan, Steve and Mike-----enough issues to fill up blogs until the next reunion in 2112.  Lets assume their mother (a Wilson) had no affairs and her husband fathered the 3 Love's mentioned above.  Geez, enough stuff over the last 40 to 50 years with these 3 alone that makes us all just scratch our heads.  Then we have Dennis, Brian and Carl.  Again making the same assumptions with Audrey/Murry as we did with Mike's parents.......again enough issues with these 3 to need a doctor to treat our scalp wounds from all the head scratching.  So what do we know about the next generation back ??  Mike's mom and Murry's parents.....any of them with issues ??   Back then in the 30's/40's   people were just put in the asylum....sadly

Mental health treatment of the tough diagnosis' (as we know with Brian) was basically non-existent in the 60's/70's/and 80's.  Yes all very sad.  But when you through in Money, Entitlement, Drugs,  Enablement, etc etc along with mental health issues......it all creates very bizarre behavior that gets lumped in as "mental illness".  Yes, I feel Mike is very passive/aggressive and I have felt this way for a long time listening and reading to all his interviews.  Good for him to acknowledge this in public.  In fact I applaud him !!  For all we know, this may be from the advice of a therapist......and NONE of our business.

I will read the article tomorrow on the plane from Seattle to SanFran and make my own judgement.  But I have to say, some of the things I've read that you Smiley Smilers have typed on the 4 pages of this blog....to me....is also very sad      Making value judgements about Mike with no mental heath experience is just stunningly morbid....and I'm a Brianista

As the 70's wore on, did you ever meet Landy or any of his henchmen(women)  ??

Rocky,

This may not be the correct timing as far as Beach Boys history goes, but did you ever meet or have contact with Mr. Darro....?

Wow Bach......my absolutely favorite Beach Boys song......and Rocky has his own version...who would have known.....I'm more than kind of curious to see what the Brits think tomorrow morning when they see your post.....GREAT job digging this up....For someone who has "heavy" fingers on a keyboard, I agree, not a bad set of pipes.
