I believe that this one was produced by Zeppo Wilson.

Linda Ronstad. BW provides backing vocals. It is quite a beautiful recording.

What the sh*t was the "Brian Wilson's Kokomo Platter" or whatever on that menu? Quite an odd title to associate Brian's name with huh? Considering he had zip to do with the song. Seems like whoever threw that menu together only know a handful of Beach Boys, and only one Beach Boys' name.
probably gave Brian a bad case of indigestation.

Did someone tell Denis to go follicle himself?
31  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Love and Mercy an early Oscar contender on: June 23, 2015, 04:11:53 PM
Given the crap that was nominated this year (except the Glenn Campbell one) and this absolute crud that won it, I would think that Brian'song should be nominated.

My gut tells me that he is about to retire. I don't think that he will ever stray outside of the U.S. Again.
I am being a bit selfish but I was hoping that he might add some dates in California when I am there in September.

Btw, JCM posted all the songs and score songs used for the film in one post. Definitely belongs in this thread. Thanks JCM for posting that!

You're welcome.  Actually, just a couple of days ago Soundtrack.net was updated with the info (from the Press Kit) and it's much more detailed:

What were the earliest documented incidents? Audree was brought onstage at some 70s shows, but this never happened at any point with Murry, right? Or maybe at some early shows that are unknown? How about other family members (Zeppo Wilson included)...
Just for the record, I never was onstage with the Beach Boys.

35  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Meeting Brian Wilson on: May 10, 2015, 05:19:58 PM
I've never seen, let alone met, David.  ALL of the rest [except for Glen] yes.  I outlined my Carl [maybe 2 hours] lunch/meeting here months ago.  Spent about 40-45 minutes with Bruce after a show in Winnipeg 10 years later...a few minutes with Mike maybe 3 or 4 times.  Met Al and Denny along the way...Saw Blondie and Ricky wandering about...but THIS is about Brian and my story is so thin and uneventful it doesn't belong in the same thread as Mikie's...[by the way...whatever happening to that reel to reel tape you lifted at Dick's place?]

Anyway...I went to see Brian do the BWPS concert at Place Des Art in Montreal...was that in '05?  I think so...He did Massey Hall in Toronto in '04.  [that show was magical]  I sat beside Melinda in Montreal.  Just a coincidental thing.  Brian's voice had improved noticeably over the course of that year.  After the show we made our way out back to watch as the 'gang' wandered out to get onto the 2 buses waiting to motor everyone over to Detroit.  That's maybe an 11 hour drive.
I got the Pepsi joke🐼. I was at that concert in Montreal as well. I didn't stick around though. I did see the busses but it was cold and getting late and I had the missus with me. I remember that we were sitting in about the sixth row but the entire first six rows were empty which I thought was pretty weird. I have never any of them but I did speak to Al on the phone once. He was very nice to me considering I had called him at home. Can you believe that he did not have an unlisted number and that I got his number from information?
So out comes Brian and the Misses.  There were maybe 40 of us.  He wandered over with Melinda to say hello.  It was all very cool until some guy stepped out of the pack and started walking right up to Brian.  That was the end of it....and in a flash too.  He and Melinda turned on their heels and immediately made their way to the refuge of their bus.  I think they were travelling with Jeff and his wife?  Everyone else in the next bus.
I got the joke about the Pepsi
Darian, Probyn and Nelson [maybe Taylor too?] all popped over to say hello and shoot the breeze for a couple of minutes.  I think it was Nelson's birthday or within maybe a day or two of it.

Anyway...that's as close as I came to meeting Brian.  We were in Quebec.  They're more likely to drink Pepsi there...so NO Brian didn't asked for a Coke. Wink
36  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike the dominant creative force when it came to conceptual content? on: May 10, 2015, 05:03:10 PM
I don't contribute that often so, be kind. I am no Fan of Mike Love. That being said, I feel that he contributed one hell of a lot to the BB. I agree that he he is tactless and I think that his stage presence and on-stage banter is corny and, at times embarrassing. His contribution through his lyrics was very important to the success that they have enjoyed through the years. that is my position. Crucify me if you like.
One damned thing that has bugged me a lot though is why he took so many years to complain about his uncredited composing? I would have bitched and complained the minute that any disks came out with my name omitted the moment that I noticed it. He's is presented so often as a money grabber. Why would he miss out on the royalties and not complain from the start. I will never understand that.
I agree with an earlier statement that Carl had his head screwed on right but we are forgetting little old Al.
I think that Mike deserves credit and respect for his contributions. The fact that I don't particularly like the guy has no bearing on my respect for guys contributions..

Perhaps Mike thought that Jeff was starting to sound like Mickie Mouse with a sore throat

40  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Several new reviews on: April 03, 2015, 10:47:48 PM
It would appear that the consensus amongst critics is that this is a poor album. I have only heard 3 songs released so far from iTunes as part of my pre-order as well as that Peter Holeman thing that I purchased a few months ago.
I will keep my mind open. I sure hope that it is not as disappointing as the performance (and songs) that I heard on Kimmel last night. That performance was downright embarrassing imho

Good for Brian because Rap sucks... LOL

Totally agree Rap is just bad poetry with background music

Looking forward to the Ryman show this coming Sunday nite.   Will post a brief review.     Also planning to return to Nashvillle in June to see Brian Wilson.   Long ass drive but can't miss these opportunities to see these guys yet one more time.     Like going to Mecca.
Not as the long ass drive that I took last year to see Brian in the desert. If it had not been for for Al, it would have been a washout.  That was the concert with that Fendertones guy doing the falsetto.

If you pre-order the entire album, you get both released songs immediately on itunes

I find that there is sometimes too much argumentative posts here. I love the informative posts particularly from those members in the know but I get a little frustrated with some comments and arguments. This seems to be particularly evident when the subject of Mike Live is brought up. I have no strong sentiments for or against him. As a lead singer, he was marvellous. His bass background vocals were brilliant. He was a great lyricist for Brian's melodies. On the negative side, I found and still find his stage presence and particularly his chats between songs somewhat cornie and embarrassing. Poor Mike seems to be the Yoko Ono of the Beach Boys ( without the horrible High pitched warbles). I don't tend to contribute much here. I only recently joined but I have been  lurking here for years.
i love the bb's since I first heard Surfin' Safary on the radio when it was first released. I bought the single the next day and I still have that disk. I was14. I have just about everything that they have released and some things that they didn't.
I have been lucky to have seen them in concert when I was a teen ( with Glen subbing for Brian). I've been equally blessed to have seen the Smile concert in Montreal and most recently Brian's last Calgary concert. I wish that we could be a little more civilized here. Everyone has a right to their opinion but ............let us respect the opinions ...

My original vinyl issue (SS) is in a box in my basement. Does anyone  have their copy handy? How is it spelled on the label?

What I don't get is why they can't sell it now instead of waiting until April. The album is obvious ready for sale.

A great loss. All of the R & R stars of my era are slowly fading into the sunset. Come to think of it, so am I.....
