Okay, so here's a fun question. A couple of months ago I bought tickets for a Mike and Bruce show in April. They're coming to my city, and I think the band generally does a good job with the music, so I thought why not? Obviously, I would rather walk over hot coals than go now. Mike Love is dead to me, and to those that think that's an over-reaction, I'll just say that I have been involved in conservation personally and professionally, donate money to conservation; it is an extremely important issue to me. Mike's hypocrisy on environmental (and freedom of expression!) issues are unforgivable, in my view.
But what do I do with the tickets? These are the options I'm thinking of:
1 - sell the tickets and donate the money to a conservation organization. There would be some satisfaction in this, but in the end, it still fills those two seats.
2 - make a concerted effort to get a refund, and explain why. I think this would have to involve getting in touch with Mike's management, and while I know it would be futile, might it at least send a message?
3 - go to the concert, but do it wearing a custom-printed t-shirt with an anti-trophy hunting/anti Mike hypocrisy message. Could be fun?
All other suggestions are welcome.
I really like option #2. Now MIGHT be a good time to do this as they might want to try to calm things down. Also, if that didn't work, you could post their refusal to refund your money at as many ML and BB sites as possible. The upside of that is it might give others who bought tix prior to the SCI event the idea to do the same. It doesn't hurt for ML and management to see that this is not over and done with from the perspective of fans.

Mike needs to say something about shithead Don Trump Jr. going after Brian. Brian and Mike are family. Taking this gig for money is one thing and it's a poor decision. For Mike to let the following comment stand is yet another view of who he is. From the New York Times: “Donald Trump Jr. is scheduled to speak on Saturday, according to Safari Club International, and is part of an auction for a hunt in Alaska for Sitka black-tailed deer and sea duck, according to the convention program.” “Don is looking forward to his speech at the Safari Club convention and is proud to add Brian Wilson to the list of liberal Hollywood elites who he has successfully triggered,” Andy Surabian, a spokesman for Mr. Trump, said on Tuesday.” https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/04/us/brian-wilson-beach-boys.html

Mike makes a statement:
Monday night, Variety obtained a statement from Love, in response to the petition and Wilson’s support of it: “We look forward to a night of great music in Reno and, as always, support freedom of thought and expression as a fundamental tenet of our rights as Americans. Peace & Love, Mike Love.”

Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Extraordinarily disappointing news regarding Scott Bennett

For those that have heard/downloaded, Scott's recently released song, "Only Love", the irony is nothing short of stunning. Described as follows: "Scott Bennett has teamed up with Billy Roach to create a beautiful ballad reminiscent of a John Lennon classic. The song tackles life's difficulties and how only love can save us sometimes." Obviously, one can never know what really transpires in another couple's life and marriage, but listening to these lyrics, it's hard not to imagine that this is an expression of his regret to his wife.
As to all the posts on this topic. For me, I think it's because all of us feel such a connection to Brian and the band that this just feels like such a betrayal. Clearly, our feelings are of no consequence or importance. I feel heartsick for the victim in this as well as Scott's wife, daughter, friends and family. He has shattered many lives by his actions and some things are simply too much to ever really be repaired.

I'm excited about it, too. I think it will be the smallest venue I've seen him in with the exception of having the good fortune of being at the Sirius show around the release of BWPS. I live about ten minutes away, too, so couldn't pass up the opportunity. I've never been to the theater at MC before. How is it? Also, probably different thread topic, but it appears Brian is doing a soundtrack signing tomorrow night at the Barnes and Noble at Tyson's Corner at 5:30.
I decided to leave work early, and go to the Barnes and Noble signing. I never in a million years thought I'd get a chance to meet Brian Wilson, but it happened.
