If that was his corniest how do you explain the last 20 years ? He’s the most accomplished musician in Mikes band by far and he’s coasted unbelievably like an amateur cover band member .

Breakaway and Cottonfields should have been hits.  Long Promised Road as well.  Marcella the studio version is way too plodding . The BB were doing far superior live versions to their songs in the 70s . Marcella Roller Skating Child sail on sailor off the top of my head

The Infiniti show was great!

The BB celebrated their 20th anniversary from 12/31/80 into 81 and their 30th in 91 so 2020-21 is very possible.

Mike and Dean played the creepy 40 yr olds on spring break role well. On another note, Mike really damaged his voice during this period likely due to the extra concerts. His voice was never worse than in this time period . Partly conscious decision to try to add more nasal and part just overuse as he had a habit of yelling at shows in this era to the crowd .

It may be more of an appreciation to Brian to give him 50 percent . Al has said he did this for Brian a few times

The 35th anniversary of Dennis’s death came and went and Al’s social media accounts were the only ones to recognize it and mention it. Nothing from Mike’s and Brian’s surprisingly .

That’s actually Melekalikimaka in the background ( the Christmas version of Kona Coast). I agree that Scott has been huge for Mike but I disagree that the band between 98 and when Scott took over as director were great representations . I went to several shows that were bar cover band like

The band was on fire last night . Brian was doing good , strong voice , announcing a little and singing some backgrounds . He and Al sounded great on Winter Symphony and trading lines with Rob on Frosty. Brian absolutely belted out Good Vibes and hit the high note on the second verse  but then you could tell he was tired  after that . He started Looking at Al a lot for support, Al encouraged him to play the piano . I do think Brian wants to be there !!!!! It’s just the stamina . He gets tired by the end and I’m sure is in pain. I don’t know if he could do it without Al being there at this point . But the band channeled 70s BB last night with the sound and energy . Good Vibes into Rhonda has the crowd going crazy .

I know Brian is having a rougher time on this tour but sit back and think how incredible it is to have Brian and Al singing Winter Symphony live in 2018.  I never could have imagined that

I just got home too and I agree with the above review from Rocky Raccoon. I went into this concert with lower expectations given all the recent reviews I’ve read. I thought the show was good, and Brian was better than I thought he would be, but I’d still rate it as one of, if not the weakest performances I’ve seen from him in-person, and I’ve seen him in concert 7 times in the last 8 years and a number of times before that.

I actually like the way Rob’s voice sounds; to me he sounds more like a young Brian than Matt does. However, a major negative to his voice is the way he projects it, or more accurately doesn’t project it. Matt, Jeff Foskett, and Brian in his younger days all had powerful falsettos that they project(ed) well. Rob just doesn’t have enough power behind his voice in comparison.

I will be going on Saturday . So not projecting is more like a Bruce falsetto, good for ooos and aaasss but not strong with words

I watched most of those clips and Brian doesn’t look as bad as the reviews are making him out to be . I’ve seen him worse in past years . I’m wondering if his mouth is dry . He never seems to have water during the show. The movements look like he’s trying to get saliva going . If he’s in pain meds his mouth will be drier than normal .

I've just been reading some reviews of  Brian's shows from elsewhere. Man, I feel like crying.

Why? Crying in a good way or bad ?

The Beach Boys' version of "Peggy Sue" is great imo. But "Christmas time is here again" rightfully didn't get a release. This live performance also doesn't make it a good song.

I disagree . I love Christmas time is here Again. It always gets me excited right before Christmas

I am excited to hear Al belt out Christmas Time is Here Again!

I would imagine Al doesn’t get great treatment either .

It will be interesting to see how they structure the set and the leads . This is an opportunity to take some stress away from Brian as far as leads go .

I feel pretty good about my ears telling me that’s Alan Jardine . It has his phrasing .

Having Al there is invaluable based on recent clips

Brian never should have been booked on a sports talk show anyway . Those hosts interviewing style is much different .
