Pretty close to mine, though I'd nix Surf's Up and 20/20 and add Love You and Summer Days.

I'm OK with people being critical of Mike and some of his stuff.  The thing that bothers me is when people say he was a useless member of the group and try to say he made no positive contributions.

There's plenty about Michael to be critical of! Lousy vocals on Keepin' the Summer Alive, Country Love (egad!), the sh*t he did with Adrian Baker...eeek. Some godawful stuff. In the hallucinations of some, everything the man did is on that level and that's not only untrue but just ridiculous.

He moved on with life nicely. I'd say that's all that needs to be said! LOL

I don't like either the Mike Love's payroll accusations nor the assertions that if you don't like Mike Love's work you can't be a Beach Boys fan. They both are forms of suppression.

I don't really care what people on here like or dislike. Others do. That's their problem. LOL

Multiple people going back the decade or so that private messaging on Beach Boys related forums became available. You should have seen the photos of rotting corpses that were sent around by an angry member...actually that happened several times on several boards, if I recall.

Those pictures were posted publicly on here...I remember it well because I never banned a member so fast in my entire time as a mod.

As far as I'm aware, yeah. This box set is the first I've heard of the '72 Carl/Desper-prepared master being used since the CATP twofer.
157  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson 2016 Tour Thread (Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary Tour) on: May 20, 2016, 08:38:16 AM
Having heard some recordings of the latest tour (with plans to see Brian on 9/23 if money, work, school, and free time allows), Brian does sound pretty good, as does the band as usual. I'm a smidge biased, though; Brian hasn't sounded as good or seemed as fun as he was in 2009. I don't know if it was just catching Brian in a venue he liked or if something else was the cause. Not that he's bad now by any means; 2009 was just the apex.

If I remember correctly the master being used before this one was the safety copy that was found in (I think) Capitol's New York office which did have Wouldn't It Be Nice on it.

You mean that if you say something remotely negative about a song or album that Brian Wilson had anything to do with, then you're not a fan, you hate Brian and Melinda, and are on Mike Love's payroll?

That one is a constant source of amusement.

I received a nasty PM from a member once about exactly this. Some of the Brianistas here should consider loosening the tinfoil hats a smidge. Heaven forbid if any more blood is blocked from reaching their brains. Smiley

I'm surprised no one has paid any thought to the conspiracy theories that exist on this very forum (board members being on band members' payrolls).

I've always found the NWO conspiracies the funniest. Somehow or another, people can't get along so much they can coexist long enough to somehow form a global government. I sometimes wonder if the peddlers of conspiracy theories come from consanguine ‎parentage.

Isn't that what the point of the Beach Boys Central website was? To have digital releases of archival material?

It'd be nice if there was a legitimate soundboard recording of the '66 Japanese tour; you can tell on the audience recording that the Japanese fans LOVED them.

I've long had a fascination with conspiracy theories and much of what I read in "the Blue Planet Project" ended up inspiring a novel I'm working on in my spare time. I don't believe any of them, however.

Also going to join with KDS and send positive wishes to Billy and his family.

It's easy enough to find.
166  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: First Love by Mike Love remix question on: May 17, 2016, 10:01:35 AM
I have several mixes of First Love tracks with added instrumental parts, whether these were contemporary (1978) or later (1980s) mixes is anyone's guess.
167  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: My latest Brian interview for RELIX on: May 16, 2016, 09:11:11 PM
That was a pretty cool interview. Interesting that Brian listens to the Doors. Never would have imagined him as a Doors fan.

You'd better sleep with one hand on your balls.

I misread him. My mistake.

Jason took sides all the time. Where was the outrage from your quarters there?

Yup, without apology. Of course, it was part and parcel of being a FAN first and a moderator of a message board a very distant second. Last time I checked I also didn't ban or censure members for insulting or disagreeing with me (gotta take whatcha dish out, y'know). Your argument, I dare say, has negligible merit.
171  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Rank the Hotness of the women on: May 14, 2016, 08:39:11 PM
Now that's poetry gold. That's up there with Baudelaire.
172  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Rank the Hotness of the women on: May 14, 2016, 08:37:01 PM
WHO MOVED THE THREAD? I'm going to spend the next twenty-nine and a half pages dissecting each mod's decision making process, now. You all done goofed, like Cousin Brian did when he didn't get down with Mr. Positivity.
173  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Rank the Hotness of the women on: May 14, 2016, 08:33:49 PM
He wrote it without Cousin Brian, y'know.
174  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Guilty pleasure Beach Boys songs on: May 14, 2016, 08:32:54 PM
I'm not even sure anymore, hell I've even listened to 'Salute Nascar' twice this week. Shocked

I'm grooving to the Disco-fied Here Comes The Night right now! Grin

You poor bastard! How can you listen to that Adrian Baker awfulness that is Salute NASCAR? LOL

I don't see how the disco Here Comes the Night could ever be a guilty pleasure. It's an AWESOME track.

When you break through that bedrock, an Enderman will be at the real rock bottom. He will run at you when you look at him and go "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN..."
