BWPS was one of the first records I heard when I was a kid so it will always have a sentimental value to me. When I got older, I heard about the original Smile tapes and went onto the internet and found Mok's version on youtube. To this day, Smile still blows me away and especially love TSS.

What did Lana Del Rey have to do that was more important than recording with Brian Wilson? More modeling? Sorry, I know a lot of people here are into her music, but she seems like a blank page in high heels to me and I'm so glad I'll get to hear Brian singing "Last Song" now, which is as it should be. While I am overall happy that Brian will be the one singing The Last Song on NPP, I am a little bummed out that there won't be a version of Lana Del Rey singing it. I was hoping maybe Brian's version will show up on his album, and Lana's version would be released as a single or on one of her albums. But oh well.

After hearing you all talk about waiting for decades for unreleased music to come out, I feel especially grateful I was born into a world where most of their backlog has been released or uploaded on YouTube. I can't even imagine how it feels to have waited over 40 years for Smile to be released, since it came out 5 years after I discovered the songs. My only regret is that I'll never be able to see Carl or Dennis live, but I have been given the gift of seeing Brian live. Hopefully, people are still listening to the BB's 100 years from now.

Brian's been saying his next album will be a rock & roll set since Imagination.
This is true. I remember reading about it in an interview promoting "Imagination" for the now-defucnt Raygun magazine. "Proud Mary" was the song Brian said he was working on. This "rock and roll" album is growing to mythical SMiLE-like proportions. In 3 years will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of it never having been finished. I heard that Brian recorded the "rock and roll album" but he burned some of the tapes because the guitars were causing bad vibrations. Expect a release date of January 2067.

Asher:
She's already working on my brain I only look in her eyes And I pick up something I just can't explain
I'm picking up good, good, good vibrations, yeah Good, good, good vibrations, yeah
I, I bet I know what she's like And I can feel how right she'd be for me It's when how she comes in so strong And I wonder what she's picking up from me
I hope it's good, good, good vibrations, yeah Good, good, good vibrations, yeah
----------
Love:
I... I love the colorful clothes she wears And the way the sunlight plays upon her hair I hear the sound of a gentle word On the wind that lifts her perfume through the air
I'm pickin' up good vibrations She's giving me excitations
Close my eyes She's somehow closer now Softly smile, I know she must be kind When I look in her eyes She goes with me to a blossom world
I'm pickin' up good vibrations She's giving me excitations
I don't know where but she sends me there (ah my, my what a sensation) (ah my, my what elations) (ah my, my what)
Gotta keep those lovin' good vibrations A happenin' with her
Mike's GV lyrics just destroy Asher's. They're just prettier words. Asher's lyrics are too literal and abstract. Mike is specific and uses images to evoke an impression of vibrations ("sunlight plays" , "wind...lifts ", "sound of a gentle word") without being on-the-nose. Whatever happened to that Mike, who could arrive at meaning through expressive images rather than bald statements? I think Mike's still capable of writing picturesque lyrics.
