101  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys Christmas Album -- New Mono CD? on: October 20, 2015, 12:41:51 PM
It's discussed here, tracklist courtesy of bgashttp://smileysmile.net/board/index.php/topic,8214.msg541471.html#msg541471

Also, it's briefly mentioned on page 61 of the pdf that bryand posted in the "BEACH BOYS’ PARTY! Uncovered and Unplugged" thread:

Ah, thanks for the reply. I'm not surprised at all this has already been scooped, dissected, and dealt with before I ever had a chance to see it. I did do a search before posting, but didn't see it, and I have trouble keeping up with all the threads here. Sorry for the distraction, everyone.

No distraction at all, glad to point you in the right direction of the info!

I'm bumping an ancient thread, having just searched Amazon US for latest BB releases (looking for the new Party comp, which is there), finding this:

http://www.amazon.com/Christmas-Album-Paper-Sleeve-CD-Deluxe--Replica-Limited/dp/B014YP1I0M/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1445362901&sr=1-2&keywords=beach+boys

My main question is what will be on this disc? Just the original 12 tracks? In stereo? In mono? Or (crossing my fingers this is the case) both mono and stereo? Any bonus material? Or is this just yet another annual ho-hum reissue of this album?

The artwork they have on the site shows just the original track listing on the original back cover, but it is after all an LP-replica sleeve so the full contents may not be listed. And it does say "Deluxe" in the product name after all...

Anyone in the know at liberty to say more?

Maybe the actual 1965 copyright extension set will have the two Chicago gigs on it...I'll take that and this Party set!

I've been anticipating the '65 Chicago gigs ever since they began releasing the copyright extension sets.  Hope they'll be released.

Pretty good article:  http://deadline.com/2015/10/paul-dano-elizabeth-banks-love-mercy-brian-wilson-netflix-aaron-sorkin-1201581968/

The short interview the writer has with Brian is classic!  The way it ends is great!

This is interesting:

I also asked Pohlad about the Oscar strategy where Dano is being pitched for Supporting Actor and Cusack for Lead even though they pretty much equally share the role.

For some odd reason, Brian's tour dates page has the Ft. Pierce show listed as happening today. Shocked But the venue's website had the correct date as Dec. 6, with Mike & Bruce stopping by a few months later.

BW's message board also has another date, Nov. 29 at California State University Chico, Laxson Auditorium in Chico, CA.

I noticed that too, and got excited for a split-second!

It would be cool if they included the color TSWTSWYT segment that was supposed to end the film.  Was that ever recorded or just planned?  And yes, as HeyJude touched on, any extended cuts they have of Audree, Brian, and Carl around the piano.

FWIW, about 1:15:15 into Love & Mercy, Brian (Dano) is signing some of the early lyrics to GV.
119  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Love and Mercy Soundtrack on: September 15, 2015, 07:52:15 PM
Does anyone know why Love and mercy soundtrack and DVD didnt come out on the same day? Usuallly CD's come out on Tuesdays aswell will this be avalible everywhere on friday?

The physical soundtrack wasn't released on Tuesday because the industry is implementing Friday as global record release day.

Shortly after TSS appeared someone very kindly put together a PdF identifying what was new and what essentially matched what we already had on the various boots. Can't access that today but maybe someone could provide an upload?
I must have missed that... yes if anyone has a copy of this please upload it!

This?  http://www.beachboys.fr/smile.pdf

Edit:  Whoops, not really what you're looking for, but still may be useful.

This is the cassette featured in the Fleischman's ad.

That's a much different Surf's Up album than the one I know.  And the song "Surf's Up" isn't even on it.  LOL

As a kid growing up in the late 80s and 90s, this and the Still Cruisin' cassette was my introduction to the BB's music, always had one in the Walkman!

Does anyone happen to have this interview with Brian (the audio)? It appears to no longer be on SoundCloud. I remember there was a Pet Sounds 40th Anniversary blog and there was an interview with Brian then (it might be the same interview) and Brian listed the following as his favorite albums:

Frank Sinatra "Songs For Swingin' Lovers"
Phil Spector "A Christmas Gift For You"
The Beatles "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band"
Randy Newman "Sail Away"
Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon"

Any help tracking the audio down is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I wish they would have released a studio version of Summer in Paradise in the same vein as they performed it live at Wembly in 1993 (not 1995 as the MIC box purported).
