Why would you think that? Don't forget that a different mix of "Susie Cincinnati" appeared on 15 Big Ones! So I assume there'd probably be yet another remix for a Brian's Back type set in the future.

By the way, does anybody know what releases contain the 1970 single mix of "Susie"? I feel like it's probably not many.

I believe the original single mix of Susie is on the Very Best..., Vol. 3 that came out around 2000!

The problem is that none of these eras are comparable. The Beach Boys were *never* going to have a "hit single" in 2012. It just doesn't work that way. A good showing on the album charts and good album reviews was the *only* success their studio material was going to see in 2012. And given the status of things in 2012 (being a long dormant studio band while also having a "version" out on tour every year *not* doing new stuff, plus not a lot of push from the label), the album did quite well.

There are many reasons TWGMTR songs didn't stay in setlists for years and years, and not having a "hit single" is like #47 on that list, below things like Mike clearly having disdain for the whole project (he kept "Isn't It Time" in his setlist for a short time; not coincidentally one of the songs he wrote lyrics for), there not being a lot of extra room in either respective setlists, the general trend since the beginning of time that "new album" songs get mostly dropped very quickly, and so on.

That Mike would keep SIP tracks in the setlist for years (if not decades), and do "Duke of Earl" and dud tracks off his low-key solo albums (who's going to his shows asking for "Rockaway Beach"?) seems to prove a general lack of correlation between a song being a "hit" and being kept in the setlist.

How is the bolded portion of this reply true? If The Beach Boys released a single in 2012 that was catchy as heck and took everyone by storm, being played on the radio nonstop that Summer, streamed like crazy (maybe even picked up and put into a movie), it’s definitely within the realm of possibility that they could’ve had a hit single. The simple fact is that they didn’t, but that doesn’t discredit the artist merit of that album! I love it.

I seem to recall “Make It Big” was remastered for a freebie UK compilation in the mid-2000s, but I totally forget the name of it!

Were you given a reason why your page was taken down, like copyright claims on photos or anything like that? If it is a copyright issue, you can expect some of the YouTube channels to be removed too, since YouTube has gotten ridiculous over the past year with copyright strikes.

It's ashame.  I always made it a point to never use personal pronouns or pretend to be The Beach Boys.  It was a blast being able to have a vehicle to spread the boys' music and info to so many.  Lots of positivity came out of that account!

Unfortunately, my Beach Boys fan Instagram page (formerly @thebeachboys66 on ig) was taken down by Instagram at the behest of Iconic Artists Group.  Was knocking on 6,000 followers too with endless ties to BB family members and family friends along the way.

I'm still super pumped though as to what the future holds with this arrangement for the band!

Off the top of my head, and I may be completely wrong, I feel it was either 2007 or 2008, on Carl’s birthday. Those years when Brian would release random songs right on his website were really awesome.

I'm gonna vote blowing the reunion album in '95.

All the stars were aligned: Brian was functional, willing, and had great material in the waiting from the Paley sessions: they had A-list record companies and producers with sympathetic aims ready to back the project; and the marketplace had come around to the point where a neo-retro Beach Boys album full of quirky BW originals would have had a warm reception.

This was just a head-slapping missed opportunity and I seem to recall Bruce being unusually blunt (even for him) and frustrated about it at the time.

For sure, “Fun, Fun, Fun” had a longer fade on the single version compared to the album version.

Please attempt to show a sign of respect to the band and act like fans they deserve, take the high road. Build each other up, don’t tear each other down. Heed the advice found in some of the band’s most heartfelt and meaningful lyrics. Lyrics that you guys are fans of.

The endless bickering is extremely laughable, and quite frankly, your clouded endless speculation has led most here to become way off-base as to the details of this possible release. Also, it’s apparent that you have no idea how absurd this looks because this thread has turned into a disgrace.

I truly wish for the fandom that this place would be more filled with discussions found in the last couple of pages of the insignificant questions thread than what’s been going on in this thread alone. I get it, this is a place to discuss and speculate, but it can be done in a much much more appropriate way.

Support the possible release of this set, but try to do it in a more positive manner.

Back in the middle of July, I spoke briefly with Brent Wilson, and he said they were hoping to screen by next January. Seems like premiering at a film festival and generating buzz that way is still the plan.

I just shared it to my beach boys instagram profile that has 3,700 followers. Hopefully we’ll get some more signatures!!!
