1  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Feel Flows box set on: September 14, 2020, 10:05:57 PM
You guys, a vast majority here seriously have no idea what actually goes on behind closed doors with this band, its members, or the families and people closest to it. Please attempt to show a sign of respect to the band and act like fans they deserve, take the high road. Build each other up, donít tear each other down. Heed the advice found in some of the bandís most heartfelt and meaningful lyrics. Lyrics that you guys are fans of.

The endless bickering is extremely laughable, and quite frankly, your clouded endless speculation has led most here to become way off-base as to the details of this possible release. Also, itís apparent that you have no idea how absurd this looks because this thread has turned into a disgrace.

I truly wish for the fandom that this place would be more filled with discussions found in the last couple of pages of the insignificant questions thread than whatís been going on in this thread alone. I get it, this is a place to discuss and speculate, but it can be done in a much much more appropriate way.

Support the possible release of this set, but try to do it in a more positive manner.

ďI was sittin' in a crummy movie with my hands on my chin
Oh the violence that occurs seems like we never win

Love and mercy that's what you need tonight
So, love and mercy to you and your friends tonight

I was lyin' in my room and the news came on T.V.
A lotta people out there hurtin' and it really scares me

Love and mercy that's what you need tonight
So, love and mercy to you and your friends tonight

I was standin' in a bar and watchin' all the people there

Oh the loneliness in this world well it's just not fair

Hey love and mercy that's what you need tonight
So, love and mercy to you and your friends tonight

Love and mercy that's what you need tonight
Love and mercy tonightĒ

Any news?

Back in the middle of July, I spoke briefly with Brent Wilson, and he said they were hoping to screen by next January. Seems like premiering at a film festival and generating buzz that way is still the plan.

Way past time for both of you to get off your high horse.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Iíll repeat what I said in my previous post:  This is extremely unnecessary and not a joking matter.  The COVID-19 pandemic is a serious issue, and the single released has good intentions for charity.

11  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / NEW SONG BY BRIAN? on: April 24, 2020, 06:18:09 PM
Don't remember this being discussed at all (a search came up empty), but apologies if it has.  Has anyone heard any info on the new song that was recorded specifically for the new "Long Promised Road" doc, titled "Right Where I Belong"?

It's mentioned here:  https://www.tribecafilm.com/films/brian-wilson-long-promised-road-2020.

Mods, if this should be merged into the existing Long Promised Road thread by all means do it, just wanted this to stand out and maybe generate some good conversations...

Around 7.12, there is footage, some I have seen, some not...girls dancing on what looks like the set of Sesame Street  Grin then at 7.38...is that Stamos with a Carl beard?

Thatís from the music video of ďHot Fun in the SummertimeĒ.
14  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: TRAINWRECKORDS: Summer In Paradise on: March 21, 2020, 06:31:55 PM
Was there an official video made for the Surfin' remake? Guy did a good job there. Quite a bit of footage I have never seen before.

I donít think so since it was never a single.

There is some sort of video footage floating around that accompanied that Surfiní remake. I donít think itís on YouTube at the moment though.
15  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Please sign petition for Beach Boys to withdraw from performing on 2/5/20 on: February 21, 2020, 08:14:10 AM
I hardly contribute and just read, but adding endless negativity on top of an already horrendous negative situation (SCI gig) does no good. Brian wouldnít do that. And quite honestly, we donít know what happens behind closed doors in regards to the band and corporation, and decision making. All we can do is speculate, if we donít know, and thatís part of the reason why weíre all here - I get it, but it can be done in a cordial manner.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black though. I get that these guys live in the public eye, and everything is magnified, but the endless degrading language has to stop at some point. When do you move on from this, what good does it do? Try to have a more forgiving heart, and focus on the positives of this great band and music made. Wouldnít you want to be afforded the same opportunity? I think we are all codependent to some extent on there always being a villain in this band, someone to blame. Iím definitely guilty of that at times.
16  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: I think I've found the Beach Boys most cringeworthy TV appearance. on: February 02, 2020, 06:40:16 PM
Sorry to revive such an old thread, but does anyone have a copy of The Boys' appearance.  It was on Patricia's Ultimate Beach Boys Video Collection YouTube channel that was taken down years ago.  If anyone has a copy, it would be awesome.  Thanks!
17  Smiley Smile Stuff / The Beach Boys Media / Re: The Official BB You Tube Thread on: February 02, 2020, 06:24:13 PM
Does anyone happen to have a copy of The Beach Boys' appearance on the Super Bowl Pre-Game Show in 1987 (Super Bowl XXI)?  They performed "Little Old Lady from Pasadena".  Would be greatly appreciative if anyone had a copy they could upload!  Thanks!

19  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian on Marie Callender's pie on: December 03, 2019, 01:45:39 AM
Here's a synopsis/transcript for those unable to view...

Brian Wilson (present day or thereabouts) sitting on a sofa talking on a corded, landline phone.  Only Brian's half of the telephone conversation is audible.

BRIAN: "Uh, yeah, we do go to Marie Callender's once...
about once every two years actually.
Not very often, but it's a great place for really good pies.
[other people chortling/snickering off camera]
If you like pie, they've got really good pies.
[more chortling/snickering off camera]
Matter of fact you ought to go there right now."

It's classic Brian Wilson in smart-alecky, put-on mode.  Nice to see!

This is from the mid-2000ís when Brian was raising money for Hurricane Katrina victims and relief from 2005.

"Past issues they can't let go of". You've been singing the same tune since C50 ended.

I was referring to past issues related to the board and between board members, but if you see fit to take a shot at me about C50, you should demand the truth about C50 from those who have been spreading their grudge and agenda driven bullshit since 2012. You know exactly who and what I'm referring to Jay.

Now that that's on the table, why don't you post on topic about Brian in the late 70's and start some discussion if that's an issue here?

Guitarfool2002, please accept this post as my third request to please keep this thread on its original intended topic. Original topics get lost more often than not when this stuff comes up. Thanks so much.

Also, thank you Billy for posting.

Iím all for an open forum, and enjoy reading most of what is posted here, but as I said above, original topics are far more likely to steer off track when this other stuff is introduced and repeated and repeated. Steers others away from reading and offering their insight into what I think is an interesting topic.

Iím trying to track down any available video of that show when Brian was doing the hula hoop with the bass. Used to be on YouTube, but Iím striking out. How much of that show is available on video?
24  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian's most active late-70's period on tour on: June 30, 2019, 07:39:56 PM
Why does every single thread end the same around here?

They do not.

Second request to keep this on topic, thanks so much. There are many other threads you can post this Mike Love info in, but please do not make this thread one of them. Interested in hearing more facts and memories from the late 70s era when Brian was more involved than usual on bass and vocals throughout shows! Thanks again for everyoneís contributions!
25  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian's most active late-70's period on tour on: June 29, 2019, 06:08:39 PM
Mike just gave an interview to the Daily Mail this past week...and yes, he once again goes there and brings up the drugs and how his choices were better.

It's sad but at the same time it's almost like a parody of itself at this point. Un-freakin-real.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-7154031/Beach-Boy-grew-meditation-helped-pop-star-Mike-Love-78-cope-fame.html

A few choice excerpts:

>>>Mike credits meditation with saving his life when addictions were destroying those around him.

'It absolutely saved me,' he says. 'There are many ways to relax. Alcohol, marijuana, other drugs, but they all have side effects.

'I knew quite a few people who went in that direction. But if you learn transcendental meditation you're already relaxed. It leads you to make better choices.

'It was heartbreaking to see my own family members destroying themselves through drink and drugs.

'Not only Brian Ė his brother Dennis drowned in 1983 with an excess of drugs in his system.'<<<<

And...

>>>A day after Brian Wilson, who has been beset by health problems after a lifetime of drug and alcohol addiction, cancelled a tour because he was feeling 'mentally insecure', Mike Love called me from the health farm where he'd been on a starvation diet of juices ahead of his own tour, which will see him performing at the Royal Albert Hall and the Cornbury Festival. <<<<

So yeah, this article is crap in those regards, as in they had to knock down Brian and bring up addictions he's had beaten and had conquered for decades at this point, and contrast that with Mike calling from a "health farm" in the middle of a starvation juice fast and diet...oh, please. Does anyone care where Mike is calling from, whether it's a health farm's juice bar or at his dry cleaner picking up his Robert Graham shirts and ball caps sorted by the days of the week?

And it's sad because there are positives in the article, some nice sentiments, but the same old Drugs-Wilsons-Bad stuff keeps coming back, and it's Mike saying it ad nauseum.

It's this kind of stuff that is exactly what does Mike no favors.

Iím politely requesting that this thread stay on topic, thanks in advance. Thanks so much for everyone contributing so far, great to read all the antidotes from this late-70s period!
