That ties into what I was saying...Brian doesn't give a f*ck anymore. And really, why should he? I too want a new BW album to purchase, but not if he's pushed into it against his will. What left is there for him to accomplish? As for any sustained creative drive, well, just how many completely new songs has he released since Imagination in 1998 ?
A Friend Like You Walking Down The Path Of Life (though part sounds awfully like "He Come Down" to me) Christmassy What I Really Want For Christmas.
True, true. That may also be why there have been no BW studio bootlegs with material recorded since then. We don't have any indication on whether the new songs he's allegedly recorded lately are indeed all new songs, or remakes/remodels like on GIOMH. Here's something, though...there are songs written/recorded still unbootlegged during the past, oh I dunno, 40 years, correct? Why not take a song from the vaults that hasn]t been bootlegged and pass it off as a newly written song? Or, maybe that's what happened with those songs mentioned above...

What about all those stories that Brian is shockingly "all there" when the interviewers leave and he becomes comfortable?
That's a good point Amy. I think Brian feels he's done and just doesn't care. I think he likes touring, but couldn't give a donkey piss about recording anymore. Interviews? Forget it...I think Brian's tired of the game and has been for a long time. I also question just what is the truth about Brian's "condition". I'm really starting to question everything that comes out of Brian's "camp".

"From the Deep" finally dropped off the charts...now its "Crawlspace" doing good. Crawlspace
# 86 in Electronica (highest position was 86). Total songs: 183,897 # 1 in Experimental Sounds (highest position was 1). Total songs: 17,640
This might be a good sign...both times I've uploaded tracks from the upcoming cd, both reach #1 in experimental and in the Top 100 overall.

At this point, after BWPS, why should he care? He's already done everything! Or really, though, why should Meli Mysterious Person care either? He should be left to do whatever he wants ,even if its an album full of pregnant rabbits farting over the sounds of frogs croaking used as the melody. Or, indeed, even if its nothing.
He's not going to have a #1 album in this day and age...why force him to record stuff he doesn't want to?

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: New Brian Wilson / Beach Boys Book March 2007 - Anyone know anything about it?

"Philip Lambert's infinite need to delve deeper into the musical oeuvre of Brian Wilson - by understanding the technical basis of his sound worlds; exploring the music Wilson heard as a child - creates a different type of biography, taking the perspective from within Brian Wilson's music, instead of from his personal life, though they are interwoven."
Now that sounds awesome. I loved the Granata PS book mentioned by Brother Woody for the same reasons...as a musician/songwriter myself, this is right in my realm of interest.

No - if I never heard that song again my life would be complete. I probably hate it more than Brian currently does. Ummmm... your real name wouldn't happen to be Tony Rivers, would it ? I knew you were forgetting something! That's how i feel about "In the Back of My Mind", and "Winds of Change". I didn't know Brian hates BA...why does he still do it then?! BTW...who's Tony Rivers? This is Billy...just changed my user name to reference a Daniel Johnston album (Yip/Jump Music)

I'll say this about Al...he was the most consistent and professional of the guys. And yes, that includes Carl. When Carl had his problems with smack, it was up to Al to shoulder the load, and he did admirably. Day in and day out, Al always brought the goods.

Dennis' voice was MUCH further gone by that point, and he didn't have much to work with to begin with. That's not an insult, just pointing out the fact it wasn't the SOUND of his voice that made it sound good, it was the way he used it. Get out! Seriously...have you listened to any of Dennis' stuff? Sure he's had Dragon and others playing some instruments on his tracks but Dennis was becoming a prominent piano player. Like mentioned before he played MULTIPLE instruments on POB...have you even listened to the album? Its the best Beach Boy solo album, and I wouldnt be surprised if Dennis had a lot more to the tracking than what others believe. Most definitely. He was self-taught, too, wasn't he? If so...wow.

True, but if you hear it with the director commentary, the director laughs at that point because there is one of Daniel's "audio diaries" that mentions how much he loves the Beach Boys, esp. "In My Room". It would be odd for him not to have heard PS. Of course, "odd" is par for the course, but hey... BTW...here's an interesting thing about the doc. There's a small section where they actually talk about Brian (complete with a ripoff of Sloop John B in the background), and the director AND DANIEL'S PARENTS start talking about Brian's Landy-written bio as if it were written by Brian! I had to at that.

As if Dennis' ability as a drummer or keyboard player has any relevance as to whether he'd be collaborating or participating musically with Brian? That's laughable! You've been watching too many David Leaf movies or something. [/b] Word. Thumbs way up on that one.
