Ooooh....me too!

Just reading the lyrics to these songs make me break out in a sweat.  I'm happy to go along with whatever anyone says about who sang them so I don't have to listen to them.

"Happy Endings" is one of the few cases I can think of where Carl turns in an utterly tasteless vocal.  Talk about overemoting.  I wonder if he was subconsciously trying to wreck the song.  The video for it looks like one of those weird dreams you have after eating Taco Bell at 1 a.m.  Seriously.

"Rock 'n' Roll To The Rescue" may be the last Beach Boys track I really like, though I thought the "Hot Fun" single was at least an inspired choice of a cover (although when we did the gig with Jardine, he saw it on our set list and was aghast:  "You're not doing our verison, are you?"  "No."  "Thank God.")

To me, "Kokomo" ended the Beach Boys artistically, because ML from that point on kept cynically trying to make lightning strike twice.  RNRTR, which preceded it by only two years, showed Love-Melcher could come up with an interesting idea when they weren't trying so hard.  After "Kokomo"?  Ugh.

Gotta disagree, in that IMHO "Strange things Happen" is a great song.

Listen to the percadella mix - it's much more obvious there. FWIW I thought it was Brian too until I heard that.

The first time it's Brian, second time maybe both, 3rd time is definitely Al. Honestly, Al's vocals on that part sound like some form of pitch correction was used. Obviously, Pro Tools and its autotune feature were a couple of years away, but  Al's vocals on that one particular part sound rather unnatural.

Would be nice if it were on You Tube...

. He's not even a "real" Beach Boy. He was nothing more than a stand-in for Brian who overstayed his welcome, then only came back because Brian either didn't want to or was incapable of producing an album.

Hardcore TRUTH. For Bruce it's always been about the money, nothing else. Anybody who's ever talked to the guy for more than five minutes can tell you that, even his defenders.

I think the single version is actually slightly longer, from what I've been told .Don't know if what has been booted is the actual single version, though.

Why wasn't Dennis ever given credit for co-writing that song?

What I think is really bada$$ is that even 46+ years since they made the Beach Boys made their first recording, we're *still* learning new things about their music.

Dang...POB is being reissued, Blondie's is also being reissued....now all we need is for the BB's albums that aren't Pet Sounds or a greatest hits album to be available in wider circulation and I'll be happy!

Weren't  the single mixes of Marcella and You Need a Mess of help slightly different than the album cuts, too?

Well, in comparison to how he normally sounded. That said, I absolutely despise his vocal in TNWSY... I picture him standing at the mic, wobbling, and finally falling over.

Carl's vocals in that time period always sounded like ass to me, IMHO, esp.on "The Night was So Young", which to me kills a perfectly good song.

Am I the only one disappointed that Celebrity Death Match never featured the Beach Boys?

"Everybody Wants to Live" ranks up there with "You've lost that loving feeling" IMHO as some of the best "hidden treasure" in the band's backlog of unreleased tracks.

I love ther fact that I can find a good song on *every* album, even "Still Crusin" (I just discovered that I like Somewhere Near Japan).

Great artist: Kimya Dawson. Can't get enough of her, esp "Tire Swing"
