I was a high school sophomore in 1963. Nothing, I mean nothing could top the songs of the Beatles or the excitement that they created. And I was a huge Beach Boys fan back then.

The Roches Christmas album is amazing. Great harmonies.

As you said, we didn’t care. Everything wasn’t analyzed to the nth degree as it is today. Listening to their music through a small transistor radio, did affect the sound .

Three brothers influenced by The Beach Boys. This track excites me, as AJR are very good. Check out the official videos of "I'm Ready " and "Call My Dad " on YouTube. They are very good. I saw them open for Ingrid Michaelson a while back.

Al is a gentleman also. I met him several times over a two day period when he was touring Friends and Family. I actually got to ride with him in his limo from the hotel to the venue, a very short two blocks. Very nice guy.

I don't think Mike cares too much who "hates" him. I think he does value the life he's led, the music, travel, wealth, fame, fortune. I think he laughs all the way to the bank. Maybe when he was somewhat younger he may have cared , but as you get old, your perspective changes.

Several months ago I "discovered " a new group, AJR. I'm old, 69, I rarely discover new groups. The first time I heard them was when they opened for Ingrid Michaelson, in Milwaukee. I was probably the oldest person there.   Anyway I was blown away by AJR. Anyone here follow them? I just got two of their cds. Their new one " The Click" has a song, " Call My Dad" which has great Beach Boy type harmonies. They even include a bit of Sloop John in the song. Find it and give it a try !

Got my copy today. I had never heard their version of " Game of Love . " I just love it.

You don't have much time with him , what, maybe a minute ? Try and think of something to say that he hasn't heard a thousand times before and maybe you'll get his attention.
