Disc One: remastered sunflower + bonus tracks from the Sunflower sessions
Disk 2: instrumentals, a cappellas, and studio banter from the sunflower sessions.
Disk 3: remastered Surfs’ Up + bonus tracks from the Surfs’ Up sessions.
Disk 4: instrumentals, a cappella’s, and studio banter from the Surfs’ Up sessions.
Disk 5: live recordings from 1969-1971.

What is one thing you guys are the most excited about hearing?

Three things if I may... All of Sunflower vocals-only. Better quality versions of ‘It’s a New Day’ and ‘Sound of Free’.

I like 

I'll get flamed but I hate the theremin on I Just Wasn't Made For These Times. Ruins the song for me.

And the cringeworthy lyric 'When I came up to stay with my gran' on Girl Don't Tell Me. Ugh.

But I adore Sumahama, so wtf do I know...

Our Sweet Love with it's gorgeous string arrangement would fit well.

[Van Dyke Parks]

I think it is a pity that Van Dyke Parks was not asked to do some arrangements for In The Key Of Disney seeing as how he did the arrangement for 'The Bear Necessities' for Jungle Book way back in the '60s. Kind of full circle.

And Matt Smith (Dr Who, Prince Philip) as Chuck Manson too. Heck. 

I hear the first movement of 'Surf's Up' in the verse backing track of 'Little Bird'. Actually 'Little Bird' has a lot of SMiLE-ish elements throughout.

Also 'Heroes & Villains' in the backing track of 'I Can Hear Music'.

Mike's lyric: "Oo let these little words of love
Come romance and light your way" is sublime.

Almost as good as "I don't know where but she sends me there."

Actually, it's "become the lamps that light your way". According to the official sheet music.

Pardon my ignorance as always... if Mike co-wrote Darlin', how come Redwood had already recorded it before Mike stepped in and insisted it was song for the BBs?

A few different things could have happened: 

- Mike could have gotten the "Darlin'" cowriting credit simply because he cowrote "Thinkin' 'Bout You Baby", from which the verse melody to "Darlin'" is derived

- Brian and Mike could have written "Darlin'" together before Brian gave it to Redwood

- Mike could have rewritten some of the "Darlin'" lyrics after it was taken from Redwood and given to The Beach Boys (we'll probably never hear the Redwood version of "Darlin'", unless an acetate or tape of the mix shows up)

The split of the original songwriting percentages on this one is 70% Brian, 30% Mike, which would seem to indicate that Mike wrote 60% of the lyrics and Brian 40% (assuming Brian wrote 100% of the music). Not that it's ironclad proof of anything, since Murry still controlled Sea Of Tunes at the time, and had the final say.

My off the top of my head Holy Grails are:

A far better mix of Sound of Free, and a proper release of It's a New Day and Lookin' Down The Coast. Three exceptional songs I think...

And if Come To The Sunshine showed up then we'd truly have world peace...
