Ugh... John Mayer. I had a friend who really liked him, so I for some reason fell for it too. I even bought tickets and drove 5 hours to see him.

I've shared a monitor wedge with Al and I can tell you he likes them loud and trebly, like an ice pick.  I suspect he just has hearing difficulties and he likes to sing on key.  If you want to get finicky about something, a monitor is a pretty good place to do it, because the squeaky wheel gets the grease in that department.

That explains why Al's voice is in such great shape!

Ugh. It would be very difficult to pick a worse place to perform Pet Sounds. It's noisy, likely to be very hot and/or raining (in 2015 they had to evacuate the site due to storms coming in), crowded... what a terrible choice.

I know the music isn't anything like the Beach Boys, but the lyrics remind me so much of mid 60s Brian.

The new Tame Impala record, Currents, was a change in direction from the previous two, leading to many fans claiming that Kevin Parker (who bascially is Tame Impala) had abandoned them. I can't help but notice the similarities between Kevin and Brian's musical progression and the scrutiny they faced while doing so.

I saw a sealed mono Pet Sounds go for just under $500 the other day.

I really wonder why this one went for so much... I assume the buyer won't pay up and it'll be relisted in the coming days.

I get it, people hate Mike. Nothing revolutionary. I don't love the man, but at the end of the day he is a singer from one of my favorite bands and has written some great lyrics. I've had some very minimal interactions with him and person and he always seemed kind with the fans.

Yes, it is. We live in a time where pop culture has reduced one of our favorite bands down to being just another oldies group with some songs about surfing. This show, even though I'm not a fan of it, is one of the most watched shows in North America. They basically spent an episode talking about the Beach Boys and referenced a song that most people didn't even know existed. A song not about surfing, the beach, or cars... but rather a really great pop song by an amazing band.

It's something to be excited about.

I'm fairly new to Mac DeMarco, but I dig his music. I've only just got into him but I've listened to the album Another One a few times through.

Definitely listen to Mac's albums 2 and Salad Days. You'll enjoy! His home production is beautiful.

I'm so excited to see him at Levitation. Those who saw him tour the album back in '04, what were the sets like? I wonder if Blondie will play for all of the album? Going to be interesting for sure. Lots and lots of people going to be indulging in the drugs that contributed to his rough times.

I can't say anything about the '04 tour, but I'm guessing Blondie won't be on stage for the Pet Sounds section, which I believe is what happened for the 2013 gigs when they pulled out PS during the show.
