The best live album by far. Although I do wish the audience was turned up a bit, it doesn't feel very live. And also there should be some Dennis songs on here. Marcella rocks on this.
Highlights (for me) : Marcella, Funky Pretty, Leaving This Town, Don't Worry Baby and We Got Love.
5/5

What's a local record shop??
a shop that still survives selling vinyl (and cd's)..... who are a dying breed unfortunately..... that's why RSD exists.... RickB JB Hi-fi (which is an Australian cd, dvd, game, tv, phone, camera, etc. store) still sells vinyl. All JBs I've been to have vinyl stands. I haven't seen any Beach boys vinyl although I haven't looked hard. I've seen lots of Beatles vinyl though.

It's also difficult to find vinyl where I live. I live in regional Victoria and there aren't a lot of record fairs. I went to one in March and only got 2 records (stupid me). The next one isn't until September There's always ebay though In March? Interesting. I live in Melbourne and there have been two record fairs so far that I'm aware of - the Box Hill Record fair in February, June and August. And the Essendon Record Fair in April - which I went to and scored with Holland and the 85 album on Vinyl. Was it the Bendigo one that you went to? Because that seemed to have been the one that was on in March. Yep it was Bendigo. What was it like? And did you get any Beach Boys records there? It wasn't big. I got Good Vibrations- Best Of Beach Boys and Rock and roll music by The beatles. I regret not getting more records! I remember seeing Party and Concert there.

Update of my collection: Pet Sounds is 2001 mono/stereo version. All two-fers are 2000/2001. I just remembered I have an Australia compilation called Greatest Hits on cassette. It's from the 80s and has The Beach Boys' medley and the ballads medley (plus other songs ). It's very annoying how M.I.U Album/L.A. Light Album is out-of-print. I wouldn't mind getting a used copy of it, if it was under $30AU. There's some good songs on those albums.

IMO, this album is underrated by Smiley Smilers. I reckon it's great.
Rock and Roll Music 3.5/5 Sure, it could've been better but I still reckon it's a cool catchy tune. It's OK 4.5/5 I agree with others when they say that It's OK should have been the first single. The perfect summer song. Denny's vocal is classic. Had To Phone Ya 5/5 I love this song. Chapel Of Love 3/5 The instrumentation is annoying, the lyrics are crap but Brian's falsetto is awesome! Everyone's In Love With You 3.5/5 The lyrics are crap but the instrumentation and background vocals are great. Talk To Me 4/5 Carl's great on this. That Same Song 5/5 Brian sings very good on this. I really like this song. TM Song 4/5 I love the intro to this. Nice charming little song. Palisades Park 5/5 My favorite of the covers and maybe my favorite song of the album. Susie Cincinnati 5/5 Awesome song. I prefer the mix on MIC though. A Casual Look 4/5 Intro is great. Good song although Mike's voice sounds a bit nasal on this. Blueberry Hill 3.5/5 A bit too old fashioned for my tastes. Still great though. Back Home 5/5 Back-to-basics type song. I love the bass on this. This song rocks. In the Still of the Night 5/5 Denny sounds great on this. Just Once In My Life 5/5 The final verse is my favourite moment of the album.
Calculator says 4.3 so my rating is 4 stars. Haters gonna hate.

Smiley Smile Stuff / 21st Century Beach Boys Albums / Re: That's Why God Made The Radio

On first listen I didn't like a lot of songs on the album. I've given a view more listens since then. Tracks 1-3 are great 4-8 are average to good and 9-12 are AMAZING.
Think About The Days: 4/5 Nowhere as near as impressive as Our Prayer. I do like the chord progression. I wish they somehow made this and TWGMTR segue together. That's Why God Made The Radio: 5/5 This is how to write a new Beach Boys song without sounding dated (I'm looking at you Beaches In Mind). Isn't It Time: 5/5 Great song. I like the shared vocals. Spring Vacation: 4/5 I dig this one. The Private Life of Bill and Sue: 3/5 Strange lyrics and storyline. Has a very 'Brian' Feel to it. Not a favourite. Shelter: 3/5 This is where I start to get bored. Nothing real spectacular. Daybreak Over The Ocean: 3.5/5 I like this though nothing amazing. Beaches In Mind: 2.5/5 Really Brian? I'd rather take Bruce's remake of She Believes In Love Again then this. Lyrics are just terrible. Strange World: 5/5 This is where the album really starts to shine. Brian sings great on this. From There To Back Again: 5/5 Just beautiful. Pacific Ocean Highway: 5/5 My favourite part of the Life suite. Summer's Gone: 5/5 Amazing. If this is The Beach Boys' last album, they ended it right.
Calculator says 4.16666666666666666667 so 4 stars.
